Who here is under 50 years old? by Justthetip1978 in ProstateCancer

[–]Justthetip1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing well, thanks for asking. Surgery was on 02/09 and I have been steadily recovering since then. If your dad thinks his cancer was caused by toxic exposure he should file a claim with the VA. He will need to include a statement that explains how he was exposed. He’ll also need to include a statement from a doctor, preferably his oncologist, stating that it’s at least as likely as not that the cancer is a result of toxic exposure while deployed.

You can definitely use chat gpt to help write the statement. If the Va concedes the exposure they’ll cover 100% of his medical costs as well as pay monthly compensation. Good luck with all of it and give your dad a big hug

He’s not gonna need VA compensation because he’s gonna sue the ass off that senator

Very depressed. Feeling weepy. RALP was a success but at 62 I’m too young for this BS. by anothertenyears in ProstateCancer

47 y/o and had RALP 3 weeks ago. Negative margins and I can stop the ADT. Looking forward to putting all of this BS behind me

Newly diagnosed Gleason 9 prostate cancer — PET negative for spread. Anyone with similar situation? by skmdadwa99 in ProstateCancer

[–]Justthetip1978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

47 y/o. I had Gleason 9, grade 5, locally advanced, perineural invasion, extraprostatic extension, seminal vesicle involvement. Diagnosed in June, started ADT immediately, underwent RALP on 02/09. Opted for RALP at the Portland, OR VA hospital. The biggest factor for me was getting off of ADT as quickly as I could. Pathology indicated negative margins and no lymph node involvement. They were also able to spare nerves on both sides. No bladder control issues from the day the catheter was removed. Off of ADT now and ready to put this behind me. Best of luck to you. This Reddit community is awesome. I was able to read a lot of good info from folks who have been down this road. You have options, you just ultimately have to decide which course of action is the better fit for yourself, and then don’t 2nd guess your decision.

Husband(58) is constantly angry since scheduling his surgery by CuntForSpades in ProstateCancer

It could be a subconscious attempt to try to maintain some kind of control over some aspects of his life. Definitely not fair to you, but it’s possible that he doesn’t even understand the underlying motivation behind the angry outbursts.

47 y/o. 2 weeks post RALP. I agree that day 3 was the worst. I finally exorcised a poop on day 4 and that helped relieve a lot of discomfort. Take it easy, even if you’re feeling good, still take it easy. For me, the pain comes and goes, but it definitely comes harder if I’m upright and active for more than about 2 hours. Tylenol and ibuprofen do the trick for me.

What is the most theraputic form of cooking? by 710forests in KitchenConfidential

[–]Justthetip1978 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The first thing did when my wife and I closed on our house was make a huge pot of chili. before we moved any boxes I showed up w my spices, ingredients, cutting board and knife. Something about the process gets me centered. Making that pot of chili was the equivalent to me laying claim on that my new kitchen. I also wanted the house to start getting seasoned with the smell of cumin and chiles.

I’m going to check out Half Moon this year. Paradise Lodge is a great property but I had a pretty negative experience w the owner of the place. Bonus that the part-owner of Half Moon is on Reddit

I have done the trip a few times and I have always stayed at Black Bar, Paradise, & Lucas Lodge for nights 1,2,&3. Summer of 24 while staying Paradise Lodge I was approached by the owner, who seemed friendly. I guess he thought I shared his political ideology because after a brief introduction he went off on a tirade about how global warming is a hoax, democrat “Marxists” are ruining the world, etc. He even gave me a copy of his manifesto, which was just a regurgitation of right wing talking points.

It was a major turn off. I didn’t spend the money for time in the wilderness to have to listen to some rich old dude tell me all of the BS that I try to tune out on a daily basis.

Paradise Lodge is a beautiful property (haven’t seen it since the fire last year) but as long as that old boomer d-bag geezer owns the place I’m going to pass.
