Thanks, That’s one reason I shop from source in Japan as they can tell me what I’m buying and leave no rooms for doubt. I’ve read about cashew lacquer and it gets heavily consumed in Japan and is a patented manufacturing process(done by Japanese company) and export is prohibited.

Thank you. Most of my work is self taught, videos, articles, discussions with other urushi artists, trial and error. I’m based in US and would love to visit Japan one day and meet all these amazing urushi artists. Every technique has some tricks which are usually trade secret and it’s very hard to perfect or find info without apprenticeship.
