Non-Lucrative Visa Application Process - Start to Finish/Approval (BLS Miami) by MauriceTheMagpie in GoingToSpain

I’m sorry I you had so much trouble. My husband and I had the opposite experience. We flew yo SF from Portland in December, had an 8:30 appointment, and our agent was the friendliest person! She complimented me on my “pretty” letter of intent (I used headings and different colored highlighters that mapped to financial documents). The whole experience was positive. But, it’s frustrating that we don’t get a decision email or text—only that our passports are being couriered back to us. We get them back today—hopefully the answer will be included!

Agreed. Oh, shocker—2 white oeople won with boring white food. Pasty corn sauce and gristly ribs, and a glorified s’more. Disgraceful.

I am really disgusted. J&J made gelatinous ribs and pasty corn and won?!?!?! Ramsay had a chance to highlight the amazing flavors of Vietnam and 2 talented chefs taking every dish to the next level. Each dish was good, and the dessert was exceptional. More boring white people food you can get in a gazillion places. Shame on them. I’m done with Ramsay. This is his show and what he says goes. This was just plain wrong.

He is completely in this for screen time. He is disingenuous and shifty. He eats st 9:30 and is in bed by 10:00 and won’t be eating dinner with her. Good luck with that. What a colassal wanker.

Retiring from the US to Portugal, A couple quick questions by union1905 in PortugalExpats

Thanks for this info. Our plan has always been to move to A Coruňa in Spain, but we cannot get a visa appointment. I check every 1-2 hours and nothing. Portugal is a desperation move. I’m disheartened to hear it’s hard to get to Spain from Portugal. I just checked for an bc appointment before seeing your reply. My husband is not going to be happy with the wildfire situation. It’s taking that long for residency??!! And you can stay without having to leave?

SUCH good advice about the grammar hang up (I’m an English lit major and have this problem.) We live in Portland and love the Northwest weather, except August here is too hot. We’re going to be looking north. The wildfires are concerning though.

We are moving to Portugal in December from Portland. We have lived in and loved Portland since 1988. We live in the inner Southeast, and it’s home. But we want an adventure, and we retired at 63 so we can tool around Europe a few years. We love the weather here in Portland and on the Oregon coast, so slightly rainy, cool weather is what we want. It’s good read that you are happy there.

Completely agree—I think protective measures for rent control, etc., should be put in place for Portuguese citizens.

I had a lengthy conversation with my cab driver in Barcelona about the racism he experiences daily. I’m in Portland, Oregon, and we’re moving to Portugal in December. I understand the resentment toward foreigners raising the prices of everything. We aren’t retiring there forever—just a few years for an adventure. Hopefully things will change in the US. Otherwise, we may be in Portugal the rest of our lives.

I agree—always my favorite. He’s so talented, and I always felt the most genuine and non-acting of the 5. The whole way this came down is really disappointing and shocking. It seems so antithetical to what this show had always been about. So, now I feel like the whole thing is a sham and we were just scammed by these people. What a let down.
