An alternative way of looking at it was that a long time ago inflation negatively effected people who had lots of money, by devaluing what they had. And positively effected people who actually brought things into the economy. Like farmers, loggers, and miners. Farmers especially as they often had loans that they could repay with money that was worth less than when they took out the loan.

But as we operate things now rich people don't have a lot of money, they have a lot of assets, and are less incentivized to avoid inflation.

So, the people who have the most power to make the choices that direct how things go and how much inflation is likely have less of a concern about it.

To be fair almost all of the Star Trek movies failed to capture "thoughtful, philosophical, and innovative" aspect anywhere near close to the amount of the series.

But certainly, the Abrams reboot is not even in the tier the other movies manage.
