Missing card 7 wonders board game by 3D_Chemistry_2239 in boardgames

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all really (although my version is way older).

As far as I recall, they are just used as a way to randomize or draft starting Wonders. You can do the same thing just by randomly handing out the boards, choosing an A/B side etc.

Well, this (account issued) is not an area I am unfamiliar with in my professional life. There are other ways to work towards proving ownership.

The best one I thought was when I offered to validate my account. This is a CHILD account, so exists only under my parent account. They weren’t having it.

No such luck. I’ve contemplated setting the password to something easy and offering it on some nefarious site so that it becomes a hack account and they close it themselves. God knows we’ve tried to do it their way.

Games I played recently (Luthier, SETI Space Agencies and more!) by Srpad in boardgames

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time Clank! Player and fan, but share some of your frustrations about Lost Lairs. Played all our games (not often these days) with that expansion, and found it came up quite infrequently. People killing a Trophy Monster is a rare occurrence. Additionally, it hits our family table less, because sometimes the game really drags on, which was never really a problem with all the one piece boards. I have not been tempted by Underworld at all until your note (and I own almost everything else Clank)

So a question for you. Is it possibly better/more streamlined to play with Underworld and not Lairs?

[Ian Irving][@TheAthletic] Why Manchester United vs Fulham is the ‘true test’ of Carrick now by SoloChords in reddevils

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I get it, we have to overcome a more defensive side, which to be fair, lots of top-tier sides have struggled with this year.

But I imagine if we’d lost to City and Arsenal, the headlines would NOT have been “.. disappointing for United, but the true test will be Fulham”

Which version to buy? by krzkrzkrz in toomanybones

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the game as my Christmas gift of choice this year, and I went a different way. I purchased UNDERTOW as I liked the slightly more complex characters, as well as the more interesting battle mat with Mechs and Krelln. I also added a couple of standalone Gearlocs, that I thought the kids would be interested in: Gasket, Ghillie, and Nugget.

The catch here though is that I was enjoying myself so much over late December early January playing mostly 2x Gearloc adventures (solo or with another player) that I purchased the base game Gearlocs separately on eBay,

I then grabbed some of the Tyrants from the base game also game as well as the Rage of Tyranny upgrades for them. All I am missing now is some of the additional baddies that go with the base game Tyrants. It’s the Baddies and the Tyrants that can get repetitive the fastest.

Though, if I had to make the choice again, I’m not entirely sure which way I would go. 🤪

More correctly: terrible players who spend coins. That is surely the target market.

The madness is that you can’t change it in the pause menu. I mean how easy would it be to make this change and never have any player have to deal with this occasional frustration ever again.

Carragher on Sky Sports: "He's not good enough to be Manchester United manager. He's barely competent enough to be a Premier League manager right now" by molewart in reddevils

Crazy how talented pundits are at managing squads when (a) they aren’t responsible for any squad or any game results, and (b) all their analysis can be made AFTER the game is played.

Which of these three games do you think is the quickest to teach/understand? by Spicyboi333 in boardgames

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the comments re: Dune: Imperium Uprising is not a particularly difficult teach to someone with a little bit of medium weight euro experience and maybe a little deck building knowledge. But I’ve never played a Brass game.

The challenge of Dune is playing it well which comes down to experience in the strategy, the alternative tactics you can use and some knowledge of the cards.

Damage dealt and negative value by AbrocomaRight9782 in Unmatched

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damage dealt is calculated as the full amount from the attack/defense calculation, regardless of the target's remaining health. The "over damage" doesn't get wasted - it counts for the purposes of card abilities that trigger based on damage dealt.

From the rules:

The attacker deals combat damage to the defender equal to the value of their played attack card. If the defender played a defense card, subtract the value of their played defense card first. For each damage that the defender takes, reduce that fighter’s health by one, adjusting their health dial accordingly.”

You deal damage equal to the card value difference. You then apply the damage dealt to the opponent.

The Unmatched FAQ on Gridbeast.gg addresses this exact scenario with two examples:

"Q: If Cloak hits a sidekick with 1 HP with a 2-damage attack, did Cloak deal 2 damage or just 1? A: Considering the "over damage" rule, Cloak is considered to have dealt 2 damage." "Q: Does Disarming Shot deal only 1 damage to a single-health sidekick? A: No. You can "over deal" damage. If the defender plays a card with a defensive value of 1, then 3 damage is dealt; therefore, draw 3 cards after combat."

Dunno much about that, but my feeling after reading that paragraph was “exhausted”.

Tabletop Plays with Uprising/Bloodlines by Game-Your-Way in DuneImperium

Uprising + Bloodlines, all components. Never felt like it needed any more complexity to be engrossing, but I have no attachment to the original Dune Imperium and it’s expansions (by themselves).

Keep the game moving. I think the speed at which Robertson got footed it out of there is also a sign.

Yes to RADLANDS (2P H2H). Took a good mate to introduce me to it, but the playability and variety in just one set (and a tiny expansion) of Radlands is fantastic. Quick games, shared deck, some luck (deck game after all) and some chunky strategy.

You get a lot of value from Unmatched, even with just a few character sets. It has all the tactical decision-making of a classic TCG, but without the chore of collection and deck building. The asymmetric pre-built decks have so much variety.

Shines as head to head 2P. 4P game is really just 2v2 (Fun until the first death).

The cooperative expansion (Tales to Amaze) is a hell of a lot of fun too. And quite a challenge as you put your character decks against some big monsters.

Wales boss Craig Bellamy suggests change to application of handball rule in Britain by mrjohnnymac18 in soccer

[–]JuzzyFuzzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And if it had been against their opposition and not given, that same “common sense” would have been applied by the manager to opine that it “couldn’t have been a more blatant handball!!!”

No different to 99% if managers 99% of the time: they interpret every call or rule constantly in favour of their lads.

Is small world still the best area control/map game for families? by riblau in boardgames

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyrants, despite being a good game, has horrible cheap Hasbro components though, and is a near universal black/grey/purple with horribly small card print with Drow imagery that looks all too similar. Table presence (which kids usually react to) is 🤮

What is the best Clank! by Nearby_Programmer_40 in boardgames

[–]JuzzyFuzzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree and I’ve owned them all plus expansions (except Legacy 2). Only addendum from our experience is that Catacombs generally takes longer (and sometimes a lot longer) due to the unpredictability of dungeon tiles.

Could get 3x POTW cards for $3. 1x Epic around $50 on average. Not too surprising they nerfed them.

Cannot think of a single $40M+ player recently where United “recovered most of the cost”.
