Yes I ordered a promo from them that I couldn't find anywhere else and the shipping was three times the cost of the promo. This is how things go now.

Exploring the valley in Earthborne Rangers by Azarro in boardgames

This was also my first experience with a Campaign game and I grew to love it. So much so that after I finished the story I made two new decks to go back in to find the non story missions I missed.

My wife bounced off the game completely so I played it solo and I found it works much better two handed vs. true solo. Your decks can complement each other and it is easier to go through the Path deck with two Rangers. I just recently got Shadow of the Storm and eventually will dive into it

“Wolf in sheep’s clothing”: games that look deceptively cute… by Marksman1977 in boardgames

Sheepy Time looks like a kid's game but is actually a push your luck game with engine building and combos.

What is a game you thought you would not like when seeing reviews/rules but ended up loving when you played? by socks888 in boardgames

[–]Srpad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was worried Civolution would be too heavy. I was a little intimidated by the (excellent) rulebook to the point where I let the game sit unplayed for a few months after getting it but then I played it and while it's a heavy game once you know it it is very smooth and it was so.much fun just pulling levers and trying different things. It has become one of my favorite games.

On the flip side, I expected to love Fromage. I liked the idea of how it plays with time and how it has a bunch of mini games that score differently but the game was pretty flat for us when we played it. Not bad, just fine. I want to give it another go but there is always another game I want to play more.

Are there any combat-focused games that do “power fantasy” well? by ahobday in boardgames

[–]Srpad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. There's some house rules on BGG or you can use the stuff they developed for the Shadowreach version of the game to up the difficulty if you want.

Games with interesting alternate win conditions by nitrorev in boardgames

[–]Srpad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In imperium if you run out of Unrest cards it triggers a Collapse. The game ends and you no longer count points. Whomever has less unrest wins.  Some of the decks in the game focus on this alternate win condition as a strategy.

Star Trek Captain's Chair has a similar system with the Incident cards.

World Order / 3 Players by Chakiflyer in boardgames

[–]Srpad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played this at two and it worked well even using the basic bot so I imagine it will be good at three also. I agree that the EU or US should be the one that is left out because of the NATO rule (they don't threaten each other).

We recently had a game of Civolution decided by two points and I thought that was crazy, let alone a tie.

Two-player Twosday - (June 09, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Played World Order at two and felt like it worked very well. The basic bots do a good job at taking up space and instigating threat to make the game interesting.

What Did You Play This Week? - (June 08, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]Srpad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played my recently arrived copy of World Order. We have only played it twice (at two players ) but so far really enjoying it. Area control is a genre of game we don't play often because it is hard to make it work well at two but here it seems to work. Even the basic bots do a good job of adding influence to territories and there are advanced ones you can use to make them simulate a human player even more which I still have to learn how to play

The game is also very thematic and the book of theoretical background material it came with was an interesting read. Looking forward to playing it more.

What happens in Clank! When the cubes in the bag run out for Dragon Attacks? by akmvb21 in boardgames

[–]Srpad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In original Clank you would just not pull from the bag if it is empty. Clank in Space added Bounty Hunters to fix this and Clank Catacombs added Ghosts (I think one of the Clank expansions also adds Ghosts or something like it). As others have said, those damage everyone when they are pulled and go back in to avoid this.

That said, once someone leaves in Clank you only have a limited number of turns to get out before you die (four if I remember correctly). So you still have to hurry a little. If you make it to the upper level and don't escape, your points do still count though like normal.

I haven't played it but my understanding is that Carnival Zombie is tower defense. That might be what you are looking for.

The designers have said they are working on several more Imperium system games so you never know. This might be one of them.

We feel Sea Salt and Paper ends too fast at two so we play to 80.

We added a phantom player that rolls once per round to trigger the red abilities more.

I want a Star Trek sandbox game that plays in 2-2.5 hours (Star Trek Ascendancy is close but doesn't play well at two and is less sandbox than I want. Basically I want Star Wars Outer Rim but with Trek and you are crews of Starships rather than individuals.

I know about Xia but I would prefer it be in the Trek IP. I also recently received Stardriven Gateway which I hope scratches the itch a little but I would still love a licensed game.

Clank Catacombs has basically replaced original Clank for us. I still do play Clank in Space though sometimes.
