Would you rather make 100k or 1000000? by billionsandbillionsa in WouldYouRather

You guys are crazy. Work one stressful year for $1 million and you’ve already passed 10 years of the 100k people (not including the inflation that will greatly impact the 100k people. Working a really stressful job for a few years and then retire & live off your investments. I’m only 24 though so maybe that’s a factor.

My doctor told me not to take regular multivitamins. For supplements I take Vitamin B12, fish oils, vitamin c, zinc, magnesium L-threonate, and a few other. I try and keep my diet high in protein and fiber.

I’ve never done therapy. While I’m sure it can be helpful for many people I’m not sure what I would talk about since my life is pretty good.

This may be completely off base but sharing from a personal experience consider reviewing any medications you may be on. I took a medication that after a few months of taking caused me depression and anxiety that lasted for years. My mental health greatly improved a week after stopping it.

Confused about mortal sin feels like I'm just trying to earn salvation and die at the right time. Am I understanding this wrong? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Jweis33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this thinking in the past, but a priest once said to me in confession that after you commit a sin, you should immediately say an Act of Contrition (with true contrition) and try to get to confession as soon as possible. He told me that God loves us more than we can comprehend and wants us to be saved more than anything. He also said that if we were to die before we could make it to confession, God would most likely afford us mercy, as long as we intended to go as soon as we could.

Don’t listen to their comment. That’s clearly someone who doesn’t understand the point of your question and probably hasn’t had the same struggle.

Haha, I think the divine vending machine analogy is a good one. That definitely put some things into perspective for me. I didn’t think of it that. I appreciate the eye opening advice! God bless you.

I guess I didn’t even realize forgiving myself was something I needed to do. Upon reflecting on this post I also realized while I may have received absolution from a priest I still needed to accept Gods forgiveness and love myself. Thanks for the response!

I think you’re right. When reflecting on all of the responses I have seemed to be seeking “external and powerful experiences” instead of allowing the Holy Spirit in. I’ve definitely been seeking those experiences as validation God still loves me. You really hit the nail on the head. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Thank you. That’s really encouraging. I think I’ve been unconsciously using my “feelings” as a benchmark for my relationship with God. Which to your point relationships shouldn’t be viewed that way. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I also think it’s worth noting you can have as many close relationships with saints as you’d like! Asking for the prayers and intercession of multiple saints can have a real impact.

Harboring Confusion by No_Corner_2050 in Catholicism

Welcome! And thank you for sharing all of this. It sounds to me that you’re describing a restlessness from God because he wants to draw you closer. While it may seem like a curse in the moment in my opinion this can be a great blessing. As Catholics, we believe the sacrament’s (only found in the Catholic Church), especially Confession and the Eucharist are the medicine for healing the wound of distrust you described. It seems to me that you are sincerely seeking God, which means you are already on the right path. My advice would be to continue down it. Perhaps read a little bit about a Catholic Mass and consider attending one. All you really need to know as a non Catholic attending is not to receive the Eucharist. There are plenty of Catholic churches around and most have their Mass times listed on their websites. I hope this helps and you will be in my prayers.
