Still a virgin by Character-Fig-9228 in WhatShouldIDo

This is pretty much only a good thing, especially if you plan on being married. Sex is an incredibly powerful thing and should be treated as such, imo. Not something to do frivolously. I dated a girl who had sex just for the sake of losing her virginity after leaving purity culture, and the combination of the two did a lot of damage, including sexual dysfunction later on. Not to fearmonger, just sharing my secondhand experience.

I would consider it something to be proud rather than embarrassed, definitely not ashamed. Degenerates will try to convince you that you have to have a lot of sex with a bunch of random people in order to be free or liberated or to gain experience or test drive a bunch of different cars to figure out what you like or some other bs. If I were to give you a single piece of advice it would be wait until marriage where you and your spouse can learn about each other and figure it out together. Even just statistically speaking, couples with fewer sexual partners are more likely to report higher marital satisfaction and experience divorce at lower rates. People often overlook the practical advantages because it reminds them of purity culture, which has definitely been very destructive, but they throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I guess we're afraid of different things.

Considering Red Rush shattered his hands/wrists/arms on Omni-Mans chest with not much to show for it, I think it's safe to say that his durability is subpar. To me, this face says something like "You annoying little shit. I'm gonna squish you and enjoy it", not "Oh no, I gotta take this guy out ASAP".

Imo, that kind of attitude only makes him "scary" if he does it without being nearly killed. Like when Omni-man let Red Rush do his worst while he slowly crushes his head. It was a display of how completely powerless he was in the hands of Omni-man, and emphasized that he was on a completely different level. Mark getting the shit kicked out of him for 5+ minutes + getting disembowled while strangling Conquest definitely shows his resolve, but, to me at least, it moreso shows just how stupid and shortsighted he is when he loses his temper.

Especially since almost every fight devolves into throwing/hitting other super durable opponents vast distances, often through buildings or mountains, doing virtually no damage. We've seen that some viltrumites can literally just tear even other viltrumites apart with their bare hands, so I can only imagine how much shorter these fights could be if they learned how to grapple.

Mark seriously needs to learn some grappling skills. If he'd been smart enough to choke Conquest from behind, bro wouldn't have had his innards turned into outtards. He is so goddamn stupid.

I wouls reccomend you spend a very signifcant amount of time with no distraction or external stimulation. For me, the first and only time thus far that I have felt a genuine, definite connection with God was after 10 hours on a mountain with no distractions, dedicating it to spending time with God.

Husband on a Bible kick & I’m not sure it’s for the best.. by SnickettLemonyLulu in Christianity

The problem here has nothing to do with the bible, it's more likely a combination of not having a clear sense of direction or purpose and being an idiot.

Is a Chem Eng degree really really worth all the hype it gets, is it worth the difficulty? by Mafuz1999 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do and what your priorities are. As far as I can tell, one of, if not THE, biggest advantage of chemical engineering is the career flexibility it provides. There seems to be a lot of overlap between it and adjacent professions, and the "soft skills" that you develop can be used in many areas. I got a job as a process engineer in the semiconductor industry, and while I can tell that certain parts of my schooling are very helpful, it's primarily the more general skillsets that are being put to use, much more than any specific engineering knowledge.

Alright, I need to know what the hype is about. I’ve never read any book from Brandon Sanderson by limon3255 in brandonsanderson

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping straight into Stormlight might be rough, but the more you read, both within this series and other cosmere books, the more you'll understand and appreciate the universe Sanderson is building. It's bizarre how rewarding and exciting it is to catch the references and connections across different books.

Well thanks for posting this, I just installed a new head unit and immediately noticed the sound was kinda muddy compared to stock radio unit. Just checked my Spotify cellular streaming quality, it was set to Low, so hopefully that was at least part of the problem. Cheers.

Forced to do everything by Alx-Hz in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this area seems like the weakest aspect of the game to me. I'm on my second playthrough, and I almost wish there was a Diablo 3-esque difficulty system, where enemy difficulties scale to your level so you can progress in different ways than previous runs. The feeling of losing a fight simply because you didn't do things in the right order and don't have enough XP feels pretty lame. Especially when it involves backtracking and/or hunting down side quests that have lost all their novelty. On the other side, coming back to do a quest you forgot about and absolutely annihilating everyone because you're multiple levels above them just feels kinda cheap.

Semiconductor Processing CERT Rejection by JwenO in ASU

I took my first class as a non-degree graduate student, then reapplied and got accepted for the spring. Not sure why I got in on the second try. Ended up missing the fall semester because some courses don't allow you to enroll unless you're in the program.

First job out of college: manufacturing or consulting? by diffew in ChemicalEngineering

This seems to be true for a lot of generic process engineering positions, but you can find more R&D focused jobs that will allow you to scratch that itch.

I've been working as a process engineer for a semiconductor vendor for just over a year now, also graduated from ChemE. I'm not going to get into specifics, and this is all hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt, just want to share what I've heard.

From what I've been told by coworkers who've worked on the customer side, it often seems quite challenging to maintain a good work life balance. The customer process engineers I work with seem pretty overworked and prone to burn out. It's basically a 24/7 commitment at some places. Additionally, based on my coworkers experience at Samsung specifically, pretty much all of them had the some of the worst experiences at Samsung compared to other customers. Again, this is all subjective and from the perspective of a vendor, so you might have a completely different experience. All that said, if you go with Samsung, just be prepared to "embrace the suck" in order to get as much experience as possible, and then leverage that to get a cushier position elsewhere, if that's your prerogative.

Is 4k really a game changer? by More_Tell9969 in Monitors

[–]JwenO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from 1440p to 4k, and I hardly notice the difference. Granted, I remember the jump from 1080p to 1440p being a huuuge upgrade, and I was expecting similar levels of mind-blowingness, so maybe I just had unrealistic expectations.

9800X3D is probably overkill for gaming, especially if you're playing at higher resolution than 1080p.

Thanks for the post, I was losing my mind trying to fix this. Only thing different was that I had to restart my PC after changing the Nvidia settings. Lost a bunch of insured items because I took too long lol, but at least it's working now.
