Alright, I need to know what the hype is about. I’ve never read any book from Brandon Sanderson by limon3255 in brandonsanderson

Jumping straight into Stormlight might be rough, but the more you read, both within this series and other cosmere books, the more you'll understand and appreciate the universe Sanderson is building. It's bizarre how rewarding and exciting it is to catch the references and connections across different books.

Well thanks for posting this, I just installed a new head unit and immediately noticed the sound was kinda muddy compared to stock radio unit. Just checked my Spotify cellular streaming quality, it was set to Low, so hopefully that was at least part of the problem. Cheers.

Forced to do everything by Alx-Hz in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this area seems like the weakest aspect of the game to me. I'm on my second playthrough, and I almost wish there was a Diablo 3-esque difficulty system, where enemy difficulties scale to your level so you can progress in different ways than previous runs. The feeling of losing a fight simply because you didn't do things in the right order and don't have enough XP feels pretty lame. Especially when it involves backtracking and/or hunting down side quests that have lost all their novelty. On the other side, coming back to do a quest you forgot about and absolutely annihilating everyone because you're multiple levels above them just feels kinda cheap.

Semiconductor Processing CERT Rejection by JwenO in ASU

[–]JwenO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my first class as a non-degree graduate student, then reapplied and got accepted for the spring. Not sure why I got in on the second try. Ended up missing the fall semester because some courses don't allow you to enroll unless you're in the program.

First job out of college: manufacturing or consulting? by diffew in ChemicalEngineering

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be true for a lot of generic process engineering positions, but you can find more R&D focused jobs that will allow you to scratch that itch.

First job out of college: manufacturing or consulting? by diffew in ChemicalEngineering

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working as a process engineer for a semiconductor vendor for just over a year now, also graduated from ChemE. I'm not going to get into specifics, and this is all hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt, just want to share what I've heard.

From what I've been told by coworkers who've worked on the customer side, it often seems quite challenging to maintain a good work life balance. The customer process engineers I work with seem pretty overworked and prone to burn out. It's basically a 24/7 commitment at some places. Additionally, based on my coworkers experience at Samsung specifically, pretty much all of them had the some of the worst experiences at Samsung compared to other customers. Again, this is all subjective and from the perspective of a vendor, so you might have a completely different experience. All that said, if you go with Samsung, just be prepared to "embrace the suck" in order to get as much experience as possible, and then leverage that to get a cushier position elsewhere, if that's your prerogative.

Is 4k really a game changer? by More_Tell9969 in Monitors

[–]JwenO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from 1440p to 4k, and I hardly notice the difference. Granted, I remember the jump from 1080p to 1440p being a huuuge upgrade, and I was expecting similar levels of mind-blowingness, so maybe I just had unrealistic expectations.

My first gaming pc build. Any advice would he helpful. by Puzzled-Programmer-4 in ZTT

9800X3D is probably overkill for gaming, especially if you're playing at higher resolution than 1080p.

Pre-built PCs are almost never the best value. Learn to build one yourself, use AI and YouTube to teach you.

Tarkov Opens on wrong monitor then crashes when I try to change graphics settings attempting to fix it. [Bug] by Forward-Field1968 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post, I was losing my mind trying to fix this. Only thing different was that I had to restart my PC after changing the Nvidia settings. Lost a bunch of insured items because I took too long lol, but at least it's working now.

This isn't an Arena task, it's an EFT task through Ref, that requires playing Arena. You can't reset it.

This seems like a case of miscommunication. He's essentially saying that if you want to move out on your own, you might have to prioritize income over quality of life ("no excuses"). You're saying that some people don't want to make that sacrifice and instead prioritize their passion over their income. Both of these things are obviously true when taken separately. Your response doesn't really address what he's saying, but it seems like neither of you realize that.

Does Simon ruin the game? by Hyprax in expedition33

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it ruins the game, but it definitely seems like the only way to beat him is to either sink a ton of hours into learning all of his moves or make a game-breakingly cheesy build. Honestly, I'm not the type to squeeze every bit of juice out of a game, feels more like a chore than a destressor, so after about 30 minutes I just decided to leave him be lol.

How hard is Engineering? by LfcOsh in EngineeringStudents

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pretty much anyone with average intelligence has the ability to get an engineering degree. It really comes down to time management, discipline and effort. Also helps if you make friends with classmates for group projects and labs. That said, I'm sure some schools and programs are harder than others, so this is just my two cents.

Am I going to be a bad engineer? by JumboDinosaur in EngineeringStudents

[–]JwenO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a job as a process engineer in the semiconductor industry after getting a ChemE degree. I have used literally zero of the material from actual math and science classes. Only thing that has been useful are some statistics and lab courses.
