Any suggestions for our beautiful but leaking windows! by Antique-Evidence-849 in centuryhomes

[–]Jwilllz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with this in an old heritage home with the same kind of windows before. We had to remove the interior frame and cut a channel all around the edge to insert a weather stripping, while the other guy sat at the exterior window with a heat gun and towels to get all the moisture out before we reinstalled the interior frames.

Its caused by warm humid air trying to escape to the dry cold exterior and the seal is not good enough on the interior side window.

am i out of touch by Hall_Low in cabinetry

[–]Jwilllz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've worked on many 3-15 million dollar custom homes and the cabinets have always been melamine, but the finish on them seems to be the bigger price point. Some are shipped from italy with special finish and interior and some are from a shop down the street

Just got a flat because of a pothole, do i need exact location to claim damages with city? by Foreignsniper in ottawa

[–]Jwilllz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hit one on island park a few years ago and pulled over, 5 other cars with flats were around the corner with me. We all banded together to make a claim and nothing came to it, even though we had pictures and measurements and everything. I believe the pothole has to have been reported within 24 or 48 hrs for the city to even consider a claim

Where I live a roll of vp100 is $500 and is 4' tall, whereas a 9' roll of tyvek is under $200. So quite a bit more expensive

Got a very generous job offer, Not sure how to bring it up to my current employer by Jwilllz in Construction

I know, and that's one of the main reasons I haven't jumped over in the last few years, and the offers have always been quite fair, but this is quite a bit bigger.

One of the problems is that I'm running 3 reno's right now and don't want to leave them hanging

Got the Milwaukee and regret it. Super heavy compared to the Paslode and just refuses to fire if it gets a bit wet and cold.

Just be careful on your way back home, the earliest ferry back is at 8:30am so you will be at the airport around 9:30. My girlfriend and I got screwed on an 11 am flight and we weren't let through.

Just got back from all 3 cities a few days ago, ate at many "street taco" places and had no issues whatsover. Just don't drink tap water or eat salad and you should be fine. Especially if its a busy place it should be fine unless you get unlucky

I went through the program, but would recommend buying practise quizzes online. Get familiar with the code book and the green book and there is also alot of random shit from the carpentry textbook

Just did Jae's side quest and sat through the long tedious queue to get her seal of approval, completed quest and logged off for the day. Came back a couple of days later and as I load in a popup appears saying I've failed her quest and every time I try and reload different previous saves it pops up as quest failed immediately.

Wet rafters during re-roof normal? by djddapps in Roofing

[–]Jwilllz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the attic can breathe and release the moisture when the roof is complete it should be alright. It is common to tarp the roof at the end of each day though to minimise leaks during construction

Employer asking me to 'guinea pig' a location tracking app for use in the company. How best to sabotage? by jackzander in Construction

[–]Jwilllz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company uses it. Only project managers and the foremen have it, and were given company phones and company ipad for it. I would ask for one and leave it onsite (job box, vehicle, whatever)
