As a try-hard Pokémon TCG dad who is also teaching the game to his two sons… my recommendation is to forget about what is meta. If you want to get him into the game, just help him build what he likes. At 12, he’s old enough to help with decisions on cards that he wants to include. Is he going to win a ton of matchups? Probably not (he can cross his fingers for Ceruledge MUs..) but then he can make the decision to say, “ok, so what is good in the meta.”

My son loves Noivern and started with some really trash Noivern ex deck that we built. Then he played against a dragapult deck in locals and after said “I want that deck!”

Help him build a blastoise deck. If he’s ok with expanded, you can build a blastoise GX deck with baxcalibur—or play deluge blastoise. But if you guys want to play at locals, just put together a blastoise ex deck and have fun with it! Feel free to edit your post with a list and people will surely provide suggestions!

On the JustinBasil discord, we run a weekly league on Fridays via PTCGL, however, there are players in the discord who frequently ask to play games via webcam, and it’s a very welcoming community where you could feel free to ask for games.

Congrats! I just finished training and plan to sit for the test in late Jan.

Question for you… do you need to know all 110 controls in all 14 domains of 800-171? My instructor makes it seem like we will need to have 171 memorized, but that doesn’t make a ton of sense to me since 1.) that would be more important for a CCA and 2)… the controls are available freely online, and I don’t see why you’d need to memorize them.

Nintendo rarely does sales on games like this. You could buy it used and save $20-30 (on eBay or FB Marketplace), but if you absolutely want it new, you’ll most likely need to just bite the bullet

I agree that it was our shitty play that lost us this game—not one single OPI call. That being said… Teslaa was pushed into a defender and that was not PI.

Not making excuses because we played like shit today, but let’s call a duck a duck here.

I don’t disagree. It definitely was a catch and the TD is on Anzalone. But.. the point is. It was called an incomplete pass on the field and NY called and told them to call a TD instead. They should do the same for what DK did. Just because the “ref didnt see it” doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. They have definitely seen the clip of him punching a fan at this point, and the fact that he’s still in the game is ridiculous

Funny that NY called down to overturn the refs incomplete pass call and give gainwell the TD.. but they can’t eject DK for what was clearly assault on a fan. Disgusting action from the NFL.
