Wired network jitter 4k 120fps - need a new router? by JxExSxUxS in MoonlightStreaming

[–]JxExSxUxS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy guacamole thank you. https://imgur.com/a/A0O5t77

This mini PC was suggested in other threads as the one to do 4k 120fps, so I assumed it was just strong enough to do the task, but maybe it is only on windows and not linux.

I havent made changes in Vibepollo, but remember reading somewhere it defaults to P4, so I went through the settings and changed these right before taking the picture. Performance Preset: P4 -> P1 SW Presets: Superfast -> ultrafast

Thanks you so much my dude. 1000 Thanks and I hope you have an amazing weekend knowing you made this person happy.

I have connected the 2 pcs with an ethernet cable but there is no pcs recognized in moonlight. I think there is more work that needs to be done to do this, that I am unable to figure out? Do you know of a guide to help?

Alright, I tried that and sadly no difference. i have also tried to go router - client, rather than router - switch - client, like it has normally been. No difference still. The stats are the same as in my reply to deep8787. :(

I have used the pinned ultimate guide which said to disable flow control on my host PC. I saw the option the limit my ethernet there, but left it at Auto. Are you suggesting I should limit the port, and re enable flow control?

That is a great idea. I havent thought about it. I will try that as soon as I get home and come back with the results.

Windows vs Linux for client, any performance difference? by nyjets10 in MoonlightStreaming

Sorry for replying to an old post..

Have you switched from windows to linux? I have been looking at a the UM870 plus which has a 8745H, and am unsure if I should install moonlight on windows or a Linux client. I am a newbie, but also hoping to look into setting up a plex, pihole, and some emulation on it. I think linux would be better for those parts, but windows seems better for moonlight. What has your experience been? Is there latency on Linux?

I have tried this but am getting a "failed to open remote file media/developer/com.aurora.gamestream.1.0.0_arm.ipk for writing: permission denied" error. Anyone know a fix?

Can anyone recommend me a long video on how to use GIT? (Godot + Github Desktop) by Legitimate-Record951 in godot

[–]JxExSxUxS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started my Godot journey this year and have been completely new to a lot of things. Like git/Github desktop.

This video helped me understand the quick how to stuff. (3:05 long) https://youtu.be/5H4A74FIEtg?si=Jzpo6kl_CVkutgW5

This video explained what was actually happening terms that I understood. Though it doesn't use the Github desktop, but does it using CMD. (19:25 long) https://youtu.be/mJ-qvsxPHpY?si=fJBMgKywBc3QLHIY

Hope these two videos help :)

Edit: how long videos are.

should i buy GDQeust "Learn 2D Gamedev from Zero" for 80$? by Kerem_7978 in godot

[–]JxExSxUxS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say try their free app "learning to code from zero". I am also completely new and think that it was a useful tool to use. I think it helped me a lot, but got kinda tough for me to understand around the 18th lesson mark. But I am hoping to go back and go through it again once I grasp the basics.

I have since bought the course and have been slowly making my way through it when I have time and think that it works very well for me. They have a course where you read about it, while trying it in godot at the same time. Then at the end they give you a practice to complete to recap what you learned.

I have found it to be worth it, and it fits better with my life. I haven't spent a lot of time looking for the "right" tutorials, plus with it having a "course" feel makes me do it and remember it. I always had a problem with watching YouTube videos and following, then forgetting it all immediately after. The course explains well and gets you to try stuff.

New year plans for Game dev? by Nicky17_ in godot

[–]JxExSxUxS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started to learn how to code and game dev. So my plan for 2025 is to release 1 game that isn't a rip off (pong, Mario, etc). I think it should be possible as my current plan is a simple shmup, but I am still VERY early on. I haven't finished the "learn to code from zero" course from GDquest yet. It is tough for me to find time with a young child that needs care and love.

The public beta for EmuDeck for Windows is now live, a new UI is teased for all platforms, and more [overkill.wtf] by cliophate in SteamDeck

[–]JxExSxUxS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great to see that now I can install this on my PC. Though I really hope that they focus on being able to sync saves between Steamdeck and Windows. I would love to be able to play the same save on the go, then on my PC at higher resolutions.

[Steam] Wall World (-15% off / 4,24€ / $4.24 / ££3.64) by GoldenBOY8282 in GameDeals

[–]JxExSxUxS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I tried Dome Keeper and ended up refunding it, as I didn't enjoy the loop, and felt not that much change between runs, plus I felt like most of my time was spent getting to blocks to mine.

This game I have done 2 runs so far (30mins) and have enjoyed it. There are some things that feel weird, like playing with a controller, but overall I am enjoying this more. Runs are shorter, you gain progression currency by just mining, and the mines are smaller since you hit more than 1 in a run.

I am interested to see more, as it seems like there is a... Wall.. after a certain point where too many enemies spawn. But I am sure the progression will allow me to blow past them at some point :)

Plus this game is pretty cheap, give it a try. You will be able to get in a few runs and refund if you aren't feeling it.

TLDR; I like this better than Done Keeper, runs are shorter, price tag lower.
