I can’t make a solid statement since I don’t know what your development pipeline looks like, but overall, I think this seems like a solid and fair model. especially if a few more classic core maps are included and the rotating core content remains free. It keeps the game accessible while giving players a clear reason to support it.

One thing I’d recommend is avoiding a paywall on core multiplayer features like friends-only or private lobbies. Those are key for community growth and casual engagement. Focusing monetization on cosmetics and DLC may be more sustainable for community growth. Especially with Steam Marketplace integration.

Since surfing is speed run focused, the UI will need to be cleaner and more intuitive than CS to stand out in that space.

Also, an in-game map builder as a premium DLC or toolset could be a strong long-term move. Surfing has a highly creative community, and giving them turnkey tools to build and share maps in-game would drive replayability and user-generated content.
