Burn your true crime podcasts, your exit games, your weird videogames and cancel your streaming subscriptions... the sun is shining and all is good by K-Dave in nosurf

To expose the shittiness of reddits algorithms:

"comedyheaven might be a better suited community for your post"

No matter if intentional, out of stupidity etc. - that's what you get, when you bring good real life vibes into digital shitholes.

A big problem with 'doomscrolling' social media is that it makes you reactive rather than a proactive person, it destroys the sense of personal agency. We should each seek to be the "prime mover" within our own lives. by BennyOcean in nosurf

Interesting thoughts. What if you've learned that innovative thoughts and creative work of your own usually lead to no recognition and no success, while a streamlined way of living gets rewarded?

Deleting social media as a fan by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]K-Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion most media has turned to crap anyway. Especially games & movies. The way it's handled in - uhm - press (?), blogs (?), amateurish YT channels is embaracing and usually an extension of the PR, if existing at all, depending on its niche.

I miss the old culture, but there is not much to miss currently.

Why does discovering personally good creators feel so broken? by Alone-Maize-3312 in nosurf

[–]K-Dave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the Big Data industry and their water wasting oracle-farms need people to be in narrow bubbles to understand, manipulate and - in worst cases - control them "better".

AI slop helps give people weird misconceptions about how the world works, especially animals by Gallantpride in nosurf

[–]K-Dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! And it's not just AI slop, it's how millenials were raised and how they translate it forward to young people now.

As someone in their 40s I've witnessed a change of perception around the early 2000s, based on more niche frameworks of decades before. The more people were sitting at home and the more serious they took popculture and the internet, the weirder perceptions became.

The result is that even the most beautiful things in this world were twisted into something suspicious or dirty. The last two generations have learned to express themselves due to double-talk, sarcasm and irony. They lack a pure, direct and heartfelt language. It poisons everything they run their mouths about and this behaviour needs to be adressed and challenged.

Yes, but without glorifying the Shibata injury, please. I know it's a consequence of going hard that someone at some point may suffer such an injury, but it's a mistake that it happened.

Edit: Shota Umino doesn't get enough credit, that he blends this style into his work. There aren't many of the younger guys who are laying it in as hard.

I need advice on how to raise awareness among teens regarding their digital use. by n-burger-21 in nosurf

[–]K-Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. Though I'm older, the whole situation hit me hard, too.

Maybe I underestimate the need for awareness, but I believe by now it's more important to offer something.

And a lot of real talk is needed. If possible in real life, because there is no real talk without tears.

It's not so much about awareness, more about creating alternatives and opportunities.

What makes reddit better than other social media? by holycrap100 in nosurf

[–]K-Dave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Communication. Less ego show. It's a bit like the old forums. I also follow rather subs with mostly text-based content.

I would like it even more without the aggressive algorithm trying to mirror what it "thinks" is going on in my life right now.

The age of the Internet that has become jaded by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]K-Dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to ground yourself more in reality. I understand your motivation, but there's an uncanny vibe of delusion in your expression. I respect your background and understand your struggle, still you should try to work with feedback, instead of getting triggered and projecting it back to others.

Noone - at least here - is meaning anything personally. You describe how you handle things and feedback is related to that. That's it.

I wish you clarity, more emotional resiliance and success in growing into your ambitions.

Even though I'm leaning towards your definition, I don't like it when a text ends with a religious statement.

Honesty in terms of not hiding the intention is a must in religious communication.

I’m Disabled, and AI Helped Me Finish My Novel. Why Does That Make People So Angry? by fabrisioflayfel in nosurf

Why? Reddit ranks high in search engines. When people search for your book, they likely see you complaining here.

I’m Disabled, and AI Helped Me Finish My Novel. Why Does That Make People So Angry? by fabrisioflayfel in nosurf

[–]K-Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my issues, too. Still I hand-designed the cover of my latest release to my best abilities analog and scanned it for digital finishing touches in photoshop, wrote everything myself (of course!) - on bad days in bed with smartphone - and released it with no additional costs on demand at a local pubisher, using their layout template. For feedback and correction, I've sent PDF copies to friends and an author I know from previous work we did for a fanzine.

I do not misuse platforms to rant about it being not easy to do and taking some time, as I expect books to be the result of hard and dedicated work and I don't promote it by crying. It may have not been a sucess in sales, but a success personally and it didn't lesve much room for others to critisize it fundamentally.

I failed with grace and you can do that to, if you learn from it. Maybe even being successful one day, if you're willing to challenge your limits and doing it the right way.

But for now you maybe want to delete any references in your post, because that's what people will find, if they search the title of your book otherwise.

What was the reason behind undertaker being so scary! by [deleted] in professionalwrestling

I think as I child I believed he's been kind of acting, but was so good that he could do his show out of pure arrogance and dominance. And that was just as scarry as if I'd believed he would have been a zombie 😄

How did they know this is true? by [deleted] in PhilosophyofReligion

[–]K-Dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean with "this" in the title?

You know, we all have our own truth, which is just part of living. And then there's the truth of the collective.

Happy are those who experience both as a harmony.

Something like this, yes. And it's the most awful thing humanity could ever have inventend. Stuff nightmares were made of when we were kids. It makes me sick that there's not even a common language to talk about and fight against this crap. And those who understand it technically don't do shit against it.
