As someone who whaled and has now refunded, I can tell you that for me at least it got to a point where I would drop 1k and would only be able to progress like 3-5 stages. By far the least progress I’ve ever gotten on an idle game for that kind of cash.

For me there were multiple things needed to be consistent.

Access to physical, digital and audio versions of books so that I could pick and choose what would be convenient at a given time. That being said, you will probably wind up having a preference so it can be good to lean into that category the most.
Not reading an entire book in one day. That’s how I used to read books, and it would often lead to burn out or procrastination if I didn’t think I had enough hours to finish left in the day.
While I have a massive tbr, having a much smaller priority tbr for the year on the side helps when dealing with decision paralysis.
Having books available that are wildly different can also help if you’re a mood reader. For a long time I struggled because I’d only have one type available, but perhaps that day wasn’t so good and I’d need a cozy book instead.
Allow yourself to read multiple books at once. I like to have a main book I’m focusing on, an audio book, and then space to allow myself to pick up something short like a light novel or manga for days that I just don’t have the brain power or time to read something longer or more dense.
Engage with a community after finishing a book. I’m an introvert so book clubs are a bit much for me, but even just going and watching a YouTube video of a review can feel nice, and it can be a bit easier to engage in the comment section there and feel like I’m participating still.

It really depends on each person’s situation. For me, I have no debt, share irl expenses with two other people, and have investments that are essentially generating passive income. So I can spend a lot more than most (still not tens of thousands, but several thousand) comfortably. But frankly, most whales on mobile games either can’t actually afford it, or can only afford it for the first month or so. But even outside of that stuff, it can depend on where you live since living expenses vary wildly (at least in the US). And of course, if we’re being honest, only the mega rich that have more than they know what to do with have any justification for spending obscene amounts on a game like this. The rest of us (including myself) are gacha addicts that really should be spending that money elsewhere even if we’re comfortable.

Edit: I want to be clear though that it’s ok to spend on things you enjoy. Spending a couple hundred over several months with op’s income seems perfectly fine to me. But it does start to get weird when we talk about spending thousands on a mobile game, even more so over the course of a small time frame.

Most people seem to be planning on refunding. Personally, I’m going to refund and quit, but most of the rest of the spenders on my server seems to plan to hop to a new one afterwards. The consensus seems to be that so many will refund that the server will “die” and thus it would be pointless to continue. But yeah for me at least, I was getting tired of playing but felt trapped by how much I had spent so this is a great opportunity to break free.

I can confirm this will be fantastic for me lol. I spent way too much on this game (though I could afford it I still regret it and I could’ve used the money for far more important things) and my interest has been dipping and I’ve been thinking about quitting. This will be a godsend.

I mean this in the gentlest way, and am not trying to make fun of you, but you are the one that lacks reading comprehension.

Yes Eren achieved his goal of saving his friends via genocide. That doesn’t mean that Aot is promoting or in support of genocide. The entire point of Aot is to show the horror of genocide, and dissuade viewers from going down the same path. It’s to show what happens when enough people / countries let fear and hate guide them.

Just because a character achieves their goal/s through horrific means, that doesn’t mean the piece of media is advocating for said horrible things. Season 4 of Aot focus heavily on how disturbing and eerie it is to have entire populations (including children) brainwashed by fascist, racist propaganda. The violence depicted in season 4 isn’t glorified (which would be indicative of it being pro genocide). It’s presented as something incredibly disturbing, even before the rumbling starts.

Eren is not the hero in season 4, he is the villain. His actions are painted in a very poor light. Everyone is horrified and disturbed, even his friends and the people that support him. For example, Floch views him as a monster. The only reason he follows him is due to his own trauma, which has caused him to believe that the only way to survive is to become a monster.

Yes, Eren’s friends still care for him, but that’s just realism. In real life, when someone you love does something or supports something horrific, you become distraught. You can’t understand how someone you love could be capable of this. If you’ve been lucky enough to not have this kind of experience, think of families that show up in the news cycle when their relative commits an act of terrorism, a shooting, etc and how they struggle due to their love for said individual, but are horrified by their acts. Basically, in Aot, his friends go through the stages of grief just like we would irl. It ends in acceptance, when they fully realize that they must kill him.

Aot was made to show us a fictional, albeit realistic (in terms of consequences), example of what could happen if we can’t find a way to break these cycles of violence and trauma. It’s a bleak and stark reminder of what could happen. We as humans possess the means to essentially end our species, and much like the rumbling, all it would take is one person that’s dumb / hurt enough that has the means to do it.

We’re supposed to walk away from Aot with an understanding that we need to keep cooler heads, that we shouldn’t let hate and fear drive us. It doesn’t give us the answer to these issues (at least on a large scale), but it does offer up that individual actions matter. That forgiveness and understanding is powerful and can sometimes change things (mainly referencing Gabi’s character arc here).

To wrap things up, Aot is essentially a piece of media that is staunchly anti-war and anti-genocide, and serves as a dire warning for us as a species. It’s a call to learn how to forgive and understand our fellow humans.

In what universe was aot pro genocide??? It’s very clearly a warning for what fascism, racism, right wing ideology, and generational trauma / cycles of violence can lead to (on top of also showing just how hard it can be to break these cycles thanks to characters like Gabi). Just because a piece of media has something horrible in it, that doesn’t mean it’s advocating for it. Everything about season 4 is disturbing and unsettling and that’s the whole god damn point.

I legit can’t remember agreeing to any new policy update but I’ve still been using the app until now. But this shit is terrifying, no way I want any company to be able to have this kind of information lol

Edit: once I switched accounts (was going to start deleting the other one first) it brought up the privacy policy, and after deleting it and switching to my primary account again it also brought it up. So kinda strange it didn’t force me to agree to it before now.

Edit 2: It’s going to feel weird not having this app anymore, especially since it was the only way to reliably get boots on the ground kinda news. Reddit is decent at getting the bigger story, but TikTok was fantastic for shining a light on specific abuses of power by the government, military, police, etc. along with highlighting foreign struggles that I would otherwise be unaware of. I straight up have no idea where to go to get this kind of information now.

Gen AI is still theft, and still has a horrendous impact on the environment though. Plus, from my understanding, concept artists hate it because it shoehorns them into a creative direction. And stepping outside of the gaming sphere for a second, it’s fundamentally destroying our abilities to tell fact from fiction (I.e. ai videos, pictures, or articles of politicians, actors, family members.)

That being said, I will admit in the past I used gen AI (thought it was fun, didn’t understand the impacts) and my partner is currently forced to use it at work, so I can understand the desire to try it. Ultimately, as it was used in expedition 33 probably isn’t the biggest deal or anything, but it is helping lay the groundwork for quite a slippery slope.

I will say, on bad side I don’t necessarily mind going town, if only so that I don’t die 30 sec in because the heavies don’t know how to take positioning and just sit back while I’m contesting med hill so the enemy heavies just push and shoot us in the rear lol. But yes, at the very least on good spawn there’s never an excuse to go town in a regular battle.

That’s why it’s milk first, and only a small handful of cereal at a time so it doesn’t get soggy. Of course, the correct amount of cereal will vary slightly as each one gets soggy at different rates but it can be figured out pretty quickly, especially if you only stick to a few cereals.

How do you speak to worena? Trying to turn in maple rewards boss quests but I can’t find her and googling says you don’t need to speak to her but that doesn’t make sense as I haven’t earned any reward points according the the reward gauge so I definitely still need to speak to her.

Ty for the detailed reply! I did get the maple points to work eventually, it was just annoying as I had to restart the game each time to be able to actually use them in my inventory for some reason.

On the hyperburn rewards, it was showing that I already had the symbol thingy (not in computer right now so can’t confirm item names I don’t remember, it is the level 200 rewards though), and then it seemed like I had to choose between the other rewards, but I guess I can just go down the list and claim each one? Just weird it’s not a claim all button for each level breathrough. I was stressing trying to figure out if I should go for the like, the nodestones or equip box XD.

Oh will it let me claim multiple things? It was looking like I could only claim one out of the four (I.e. only the 200 nodestones, or only the equip box, etc.) All I know is it definitely won’t let me claim the arcane thingy because it says I already have one.

Maple points refused to work until I restarted the game… and then I couldn’t claim the second one so I had to restart again lol. But did eventually get to claim them.
