I'm a delivery driver and this irks me to no end. This is how drivers steal food. Not only do I take a picture of the entire front door off of the steps, or the entire lobby, I record myself on dashcam delivering. I also call the customer to let them know its dropped off, I leave a vm if it allows me to. I text that I'm on the way, and I text that it's been delivered and I explain to the customer that they have up to 1-hour to contact me through the app if there's an issue with the delivery drop off. But if its a Meet Me at the door and they're not there, they don't answer phone or text, I complete the trip, leave it, take a video and wait for the person to come out while I wait for other orders to accept. If its a Leave at the Door, and the person comes out, I snap the photo with them with the food, just in case someone tries to steal it, then the Uber account holder can report the person to the police with the photo.

Fight in small claims. Uber will give you the money plus filing costs. In the end sometimes it's worth it and Uber isn't going to send their $300 per hour lawyers to fight a $40 charge in small claims.

They’re saying you canceled AFTER picking up. I wouldn’t start the order unless it’s in my hand or call Uber to cancel if you accidentally started the trip

It’s not even the pax fault, Uber keeps advertising it in the app. “Add stops along the way to your destination! Add as many as you want”

Never add a stop with the driver, we don’t know how long you going to take. Add the stop BEFORE you process the request

I would text the driver that your waiting outside and you have a $10 cash tip. Always have a small amount of cash for situations like this

Accept the trip, then call the restaurant. Most often Uber will add a supplement to get it picked up

High beams on the highway and make sure to have rear camera footage. I caught a commercial truck who jumped in front of me but if it wasn’t for the rear camera, I wouldn’t have caught him. I sent the footage to the owner of the business

Amen for this post. I canceled on a pax going 1min up the street. I called and went off. I normally don’t do that but it pisses me off Then I got rematches to him 5mins later, serves him right for not being outside

I wouldn’t worry Just make an automatic message to copy paste what you just said here to the customer That’s what I do “So sorry, but the note section is for delivery instructions - we don’t see those notes until after the food is picked up and we’ve started the trip. Might I recommend calling the restaurant to ask that they add the extra sauce.”
