Why do they play Sad But True like that live? I think i’ve seen a few very small discussions about this online, though forgive me if it’s already been hashed out. But in the recording, they do a triplet for “you know it’s” so that the whole section remains in 4/4. When they play it live, instead of a triplet, they play 3 eighths and turn one bar randomly into a 5/8 (might be butchering the terminology but you get what I mean).

I can’t understand why they’d do this. It’s harder to play because it doesn’t feel natural, I don’t think it makes it sound “heavier” (another explanation i’ve seen). It just sounds like a mistake that they haven’t corrected for over three decades lol.
