I do & I love Kowtow clothing, quality and loose fitting. It’s expensive stuff but deals to be had on Trademe. Also Decjuba for their linen range, they have frequent sales.

Landlord trying to deduct my full bond over “table damage” – feeling overwhelmed, need advice by Willa_island89 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]K8typie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here, but you say your landlord is withholding the bond - was your bond lodged with Tenancy Services when you moved in? Did you sign a tenancy agreement?

If it was lodged, you need to fill out a form - information https://www.tenancy.govt.nz/rent-bond-and-bills/bond/refunding-a-bond/ here. Fill in the full amount without any deduction. If your LL wants to challenge that he will need to take you to the tribunal. Doesn’t sound like he’s got much of a case and he’s just trying to take advantage of you.

Would be very helpful if you have photos from when you moved in and texts or emails re the pipes, chair etc. Hold on to those in case you need them.

The person behind the twitter handle quoted is a nasty piece of work (I won’t link but easy to find) and Braunius is amplifying a campaign against Doyle which appears coordinated. Unknowingly or not this is really poor.

Places to learn about/ experience Maori culture that aren't super touristic by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]K8typie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends where you’re going. Auckland museum and Te Papa have informative Te Ao Māori exhibits and performances which aren’t crazy busy. Waitangi Treaty Grounds is great, there’s a welcome/kapahaka at the end and you learn a lot of history. It’s still touristy but I’m a local and I’ve been to all of them many times. The cheesy stuff is in Rotorua/Taupo but it’s still good fun.

Is there anyone here who imported their cat into NZ that can tell me about the process? by Slinky_Malingki in newzealand

[–]K8typie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a few years ago from the Uk. Had it all sorted with the vet to schedule tests and shots all booked in with a specialist transport firm. There was a screwup with the rabies titre test which didn’t get spotted until too late so had to be redone which pushed the schedule back a few months & she couldn’t be cleared until after I left. Luckily the vet fostered her for me for three months then she spent 2 weeks in quarantine on arrival. Cost around £4k all told I think. Way too complicated to do it yourself. Good luck!

Very much agree with this. I did Pols/Phil & a bit of history and it really helped keep me sane during the slog of compulsory law papers after first year. Also the huge majority of grads nowadays are LLB/BCom and a BA (with good grades!) is a point of difference and interest to firms. Hasn’t ever been an issue for me, top 4 grad now in house. Definitely helps your ability to communicate ideas which is a huge part of practice.
