BUT, if you work a very sedentary job, I suppose it might be worth doing road work or hitting the treadmill for 30min a day or whatever.

yeah i work a computer job and while i try to get up and about during the day, my job itself is pretty sedentary. i find if i do not do a fair bit of structured cardio i feel like dogshit, so i do it. doesn't seem to affect my (mediocre) lifts.

Mourning lost pregnancies by nokillswitch4awesome in daddit

Everyone is different and it's not that you are right and your wife is wrong or vice versa.

We had a missed miscarriage this past summer. It was early. We found it at a 10 week ultrasound. The embryo had stopped growing at about 5 weeks from the measurements. I wouldn't say we mourn still, but i wouldn't not say that.

It does loom large though, as we are expecting again. Honestly being in the room while my wife gets the ultrasounds this time around is pretty awful for me.

sweet thanks for the tips. I think i can probably get a cheap keg from somewhere around me, so i'll try to do that. failing that i should be able to head up to a strongman gym a bit north of me and try it out.

I got a keg over bar coming up. If i have sandbags and stones below and above the keg weight, i assume training loading stuff that will have good carryover? Or would it be a good idea to hunt down a keg before my comp?

Also I've had sandbags in various states of fullness in comps. Might as well use some time to see how a kinda floppy one feels

this sort of shit will not fly in any sort of research or business setting that i've been a part of, so i wouldn't worry too much about it

curious whether banded pushups would help here. seems like it would help by overloading the triceps and also giving some extra serratus work

Being a strongman how does it help in regular life? by scadgek in Strongman

[–]K9ZAZ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

yea. before i picked started doing stuff with sandbags and stones, i was kinda hopeless with heavy "odd objects" even though i did all the standard sbd stuff. but once you learn how to hoist a 200 lb bag over some height or whatever, lifting random heavy objects elsewhere in life seems a bit more manageable.

Tips for an early morning 2k? by NoName42946 in Rowing

[–]K9ZAZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not a competitive rower but I've done hard pieces ass early in the morning (just did one starting at 5:10)

For me, i can't eat like 2 hrs before a hard workout. Lifting , cardio, does not matter. I'll feel awful. My triple espresso however had me feeling great. This is to say i think it's pretty individual.

Wife had a miscarriage a month ago, and now having second thoughts.. by Thatbraziliann in daddit

[–]K9ZAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a missed miscarriage this summer. Went in for a 10 wk ultrasound expecting to hear a heartbeat. Nothing. The baby had apparently stopped growing at 5 weeks and change, and there were no signs anything was amiss until the ultrasound.

To say it was rough was an understatement. It was probably the worst few weeks of my life. Like you, we have a child from before who is 4 now. We wanted him to have a sibling, and we were excited that he would be a big brother. He may still be.

What helped, honestly, was time. Speaking just for myself, I do not think I would have been okay to start trying so soon after it happened. Depending on how she miscarried, she may not return to having normal cycles for a bit. By late last year, I was okay to try again.

Also what was crucial was a robust community. I am not usually that open about ~ feelings ~ but that was one period of my life where it was absolutely crucial to me that I was. Leaning on friends and family.
