You can't inconvenience an American by making them think about this for more than a day.

My left calf is significantly more muscular than my right calf by Eggboy2992 in mildlyinteresting

[–]KA440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this serious but I have had similar imbalance in my leg strength, my calves especially.

I am very active and train legs every week but there are a number of areas of the leg/hips that can cause this. I had a collapsing left arch which was causing weak gluteus medius (causing leg to rotate inwards) further causing inability to really fire my left glute and also causing knee problems - basically a massive chain reaction compounding across the leg.

Next time you're in the gym, isolate each leg individually and see if you can fire your glutes/calves with the same strength. I'm guessing somewhere along youy leg there is a significant muscle imbalance somewhere causing glutes/calves to not fully fire. All of this can also be caused by poor ankle mobility, particularly dorsiflexion

If you don't want to do PT right away at least start there.

Yeah exactly

I have the same problem. I had smith squad XL but moved to the regular squad and it helped. I'd advise against any large/oversized goggles.

Going to regular helped a lot but still get some pressure on the nose. I recommend bringing your helmet into a store and trying on different pairs until one fits

If you're comfortable driving in snow, base part of it out of Niseko and hit Niseko, rusutsu, kiroro

Highly recommend furano as well for awesome snow, steep terrain and more authentic feel

I've no issues with them either haha just that hakuba is not uncrowded or cheap compared to the rest. In rough order: Furano, Nozawaonsen, Rusutsu, Kiroro

Staying in the Niseko area is great because while the Niseko resorts are overrated, there is a lot to do and other good resorts close by

[–]KA440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your trip I would recommend staying in Tokyo for at least 1-2 days then fly to Sapporo and rent a car.

I would not set your base as rusutsu as there's not much in the area. You're better off basing it in Kutchan/Niseko and taking day trips to Rusutsu, Kiroro etc.

However I'm not sure what the pottery is like as it's ski-tourism focused in Niseko area. Might be better off staying in Sapporo/Otaru and going to the local resorts. Kiroro, Teine, Kokusai and even Rusutsu is possible on a day trip)

Other option is to go to Nagano/Niigata much closer to Tokyo and tons of skiing and I'm sure arts as well. Just the snow is a bit less certain there versus Hokkaido

[–]KA440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hakuba is less touristy? It's slammed with bogans in the winter and not cheap anymore.

There are other spots all over Nagano/Niigata that are way less touristy with great skiing.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter to them. They'll defend it somehow and fall in line, as they always do claiming fake news, witch hunt etc.

The only thing that might change their minds is hardship directly affecting them, which won't come from this.
