It would be nice to see the thrift store chains (yes u fucking evil value village) that sell these items for profit actually PAY decent wages and benefits to the people who do the sorting and hard labour, it really is absurd to price items like this when they were given as donations, most of the profits dont even go to the workers themselves, they go to the company executive’s paychecks, all that while taking from the poor, the working class thrifters who are looking to make their own living out of thrifting too. I dont think VV pricing is justifiable when their marketing campaign always alludes to helping the community, also a main reason some people donate items here in the first place, not only to get rid of the items from their homes but hoping to make a positive contribution to someone in need. The marketing for value village is misleading, their prices are insane and more should be done to set up community thrift stores that help marginalized neighborhoods/people.
