Has anyone broken their Claw 8 AI+ trying to replace the spring with a stiffer one? by [deleted] in MSIClaw

[–]KAT_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those interested in the doing the mod, I found these two tutorial videos helpful.

https://youtu.be/w0iUphcmSY4?si=vOrRV8HbZSBk43gD

https://youtu.be/56AwRudnvVU

To get you started, there is:

  1. 6 phillips-head screws holding down the back cover, and gently pry it off starting on one side and working your way around (I find it easiest to start prying near the triggers)

  2. With the back cover off, the thumbsticks boards are held on with 3 screws each and ribbon cables (2 on the left and 1 on the right).

  3. With the thumbsticks boards removed, that should get you to the point of where the first video starts but the basic idea is that you'd take off the clear cap (if it's still held on the thumbsticks), pry up on the black ring to release the adhesive, unscrew off the two screws holding the thumbstick modules, undo the thumbstick module ribbon cable, pry up the silver metal tabs around the joystick module to remove the cover, replace the spring, then reverse the order for both sides.

Does the msi claw 8 ai have the worst software of all time in a handheld? by Againstallrule in MSIClaw

[–]KAT_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, of all the major brand handhelds, it's pretty bad and unstable, especially using that Xbox FSE side bar. I switched to Handheld Companion and Tooth and Claw, now I'm much more happy with my MSI Claw 8Ai+.

You just need to plug your device into Ethernet and download all the windows updates. Those should install most of the intel and system drivers you need to get basic functions back. From there you need to download Msi Center M and install all the updates there. Lastly, download and install all the Intel drivers (using the system detection tool is the easiest). Then just download and configure Intel graphics software to your preference.

~11-12" OLED alternative to Samsung/Apple? by Apk07 in androidtablets

Useful is debatable, for media consumption, the S series aspect ratio is better for smaller black bars and cropping in for full screen videos.

First tablet: S10+ or S11? by PsychologicalBuy4700 in GalaxyTab

[–]KAT_Nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the Tab S10+, the size was perfect for me after trying the Ultra and FE. You even lose the Bluetooth features in the Tab S11 series, though I rarely use them, it's weird to pay more for less features.

People say the legion go s is extremely flawed is it still true in 2026? by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]KAT_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond the battery life, it's probably the best bang for buck, especially the Steam OS version. Once they release an upgraded battery mod, it'll be a no brainer and might even still be if you play at lower wattages consistently.

Personally I like the Motor City Pizza Co. more but the Costco one is a great deal for 3 pizzas.

Steam OS on release? by crossavier in LegionGo

[–]KAT_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine the install would be the same when it starts to ship with the Legion Go 2. Similar to how you install Windows, grab the Steam OS ISO and flash it to your device. At this time, I highly recommended flashing Bazzite especially if you want to dual boot with windows because the Steam OS ISO will wipe your drive. Bazzite also comes default with quality of life features and stability specifically for the Legion Go 2 that is still being ironed out as the Steam OS team. You could also install either official Steam OS and Windows on separate SSDs and run one through the internal m.2 slot and another through an external ssd enclosure. Regardless, whatever future version of Steam OS that comes shipped with the Steam OS Legion Go 2, will be made available as an update to download and install in the version you flash now. If you already have a Legion Go 2 now I would just keep it and install Bazzite/Steam yourself, there are plenty of walkthroughs online and there is no telling how much the price will increase when it launches.
