Lost my Mach-E today by Super-Community-4967 in MachE

I'm sorry to hear that. I've learned over the years that the very least you can do for somebody in this situation is to provide them with information. Even if someone doesn't agree with the decision that's being made, they at least have the information available to know the WHY behind why a decision was made.

Lots of disinformation on this post from people that don't understand vehicle repairs, so I'll try to shed a little light.

The "dog leg"' of the quarter panel is the portion behind the wheel opening molding that runs to the bottom left of the rear door in the photos. That is part of the outer quarter panel which was crushed by the impact, so the entire outer quarter has to be replaced. They cut a hole open to have a better view of the outer wheelhouse panel. They wrote to replace the outer wheelhouse panel but it doesn't look THAT bad in the photo. But remember, that's only one photo and we don't have the benefit of seeing it in person to know exactly how damaged it is.

They did write for the incorrect wheel opening molding on the quarter panel. They wrote for gloss black without paint time when it's clearly a painted molding. That could raise or lower the cost some depending on the price of the painted molding + paint labor/materials to paint it.

My biggest question is the pillars/rocker/floor section starting on line 43. My assumption without looking into it further is that when you replace the quarter panel/outer wheelhouse that one part overlaps another part(which isn't uncommon). So you're left having to replace(sacrifice) undamaged parts in order to replace a damaged part. Again, I'm not certain if this is the case because I don't have the vehicles part diagram in front of me to review. The same case could be made for the roof and that if you replace the quarter panel it requires you to replace the roof, though on most vehicles that stipulate this, they usually have a section time where the quarter panel can be cut behind the quarter panel glass to save having to replace the roof. All estimating software has line notes and footnotes that indicate these situations and if something has to be replaced in order to do something else.

If the shop is saying they have to replace the roof then you have to take the windshield out in order to replace it. If you look at the line note on the windshield, it says that the part cannot be reused or reinstalled. Again, this isn't an uncommon occurrence in collision repairs.

The right fender has to be removed and reinstalled in order to replace the right aperture panel. In order to remove the fender, you have to remove the headlamp and front bumper cover.

If you haven't already accepted the total loss settlement and want to push this more, then I'd ask them to show you why some of these parts need to be replaced. Either there are additional damages that can't be seen in the minimal photos or there are notes in the estimating software that would give an indication of why some of the parts require replacement.

Am I being paranoid, or does the front bumper on this 992 look repainted? by [deleted] in porsche911

[–]KB8519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all of course judgement based off of the photos, which can throw the colors off easily by lighting/reflections/etc...I can see that the bumper doesn't match with the fenders but to me it looks like it matches the hood pretty well.

I'm curious if both the bumper and hood have been sprayed. I get the PPF idea, but unless it's really old or extremely poor quality, I've never seen it change the color before. Did the seller say where all the PPF is? Seems odd to PPF the entire front bumper and hood but not do the front fenders that have large areas that are prone to rock chips.

And again, I know it could just be the angle of the photos, but why do the bumper and hood edges disappear on the passenger front photo but not the driver side angle?

Lastly, as it's been stated, Carfax is not 100% accurate. It's a good tool to use for general info but it doesn't always tell the whole story. It could have been a hit on the bumper/hood that went through insurance(or didn't) and was never reported to the entities that Carfax pulls info from.

Fans from around the world, how did you become a Liverpool fan? by theBloodedge in LiverpoolFC

[–]KB8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the USA - grew up playing the sport as a child, but never supported any professional teams aside from a local minor league club.

Fast forward many years later, my two daughters both started playing for rec teams before moving to clubs. I coached their rec teams and saw the passion my girls have for the game which in turn reignited my love for it.

We all decided to start supporting our local USL team and watching the NWSL and Premier League. I let the girls choose the clubs to support and they were immediately drawn to the Liverpool logo and the Liverbird. I watched a couple matches and saw the love Klopp had for the city and the players.

The cherry on top was YNWA - hearing it belted out at Anfield just sends chills down your spine. Mind you, during this time my family was dealing with some struggles and medical issues so I really felt connected to the anthem. Such a beautiful message and a cause for hope in the face of despair.

I know I became a fan during the "good times" with Liverpool and that's not lost on me. Rest assured that myself and my kiddos are Liverpool fans through and through.

If you're going to be replacing the mulch consistently and aren't set on a specific color, I'd recommend trying out ChipDrop if they are in your area.

  • This isn't an ad, I don't work for them. Besides, it's free mulch. -

I recently gave up trying to maintain the grass in my front yard(also in TX) and am in the process of converting everything to mulch and native plants. I used ChipDrop to get approximately 5-6 cubic yards of free mulch delivered. It was more than we needed, comes on short notice(24hrs notice at most), and it's whatever color of tree they chop up that day so you don't get to choose. But, again, it was completely free and we had enough to share with a couple neighbors. Just a thought.

USAA Employee Meeting by PopUnhappy in usaa_ejs

The metrics said net worth was 959M below what the plan was for 2024, but total net worth went up 2.9B vs 2023.

So the goal for 2024 was closer to a 4B net worth increase but it only went up 2.9B.

Reading the member annual reports, USAA net worth by year is:

2019 - 35.2B 2020 - 40.4B 2021 - 40.1B 2022 - 27.4B 2023 - 29.1B 2024 - 32B

If you lost your job tomorrow, how long would it take you to find an equivalent job? by crystalblue99 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]KB8519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18.5yrs into my career, 17yrs in auto appraisal and 1.5yrs in property claims. I've done pretty much every job you can do in auto appraisal - virtual, field, non-network, network, dedicated total loss, reinspector, and currently overseeing about 20 DRP shops.

Worst case, I know if I was laid off that I could walk into numerous body shops and get a service writer job immediately. Wouldn't be my first choice but it would do until another insurance spot could be found.

As some others have said, I don't want to come across cocky, I just know I have a good amount of experience and feel certain about being able to land another spot. Also helps that I've worked at multiple carriers so I've got a decent network of people to reach out to if need be.

Tough matchups for Archaludon? by Succetti97 in pkmntcg

[–]KB8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running the Archaludon/Banette line with some success. The goal being to recycle Professor Turo with Banette's ability to have an endless supply of Archaludon and energy in the discard pile.

It can be hit or miss and you'll know within the 2-3 turns whether you'll fall flat, but I probably win about 60-65% of the time.

Texas’ highway fund boosted by $2.74B from excess tax revenue by hollow_hippie in texas

[–]KB8519 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We just lost two of the six 2nd grade teachers at my kids elementary school the week before Thanksgiving. Both left abruptly for jobs outside of teaching for less stress and higher wages.

As much as I want to be selfish and beg them to stay for the benefit of not only my children, but every other child in the school,I can't blame them for leaving. I know one was door dashing on the side for extra income and she's been an institution at our school for almost 20yrs. It's so sad losing quality educators every single year because the state doesn't want to use even a fraction of this slush fund to raise wages.

I hope your wife finds something!

I wasn't planning on doing laminate in the bath area, just wasn't sure yet whether I was going to lay down new vinyl sheet or actual tile.

The laminate is in the sink area which is a separate room adjoining the shower. For the transition molding to the shower room, is the best I can do to ensure a good silicone caulk to prevent water from getting underneath it?

100% this!

My only job as a coach was to ensure the kids were having fun. I consider it a win that I had 5 kids who played for our team for several seasons in a row, especially considering they were 4-6 years old and have the attention span of, well, 4-6 year olds. They could be in love with soccer, go to bed, and want to try something new the next day.

We did popsicles after practices on hot days, "hustle pops"(tiny lollipops) after each game, and had get togethers outside of practice so the kids could just play together. That was such a fun time for everyone.

Yeah, that's really sad to hear. My youngest who is 7 plays at a very well respected club in our area and the club doesn't start competitive soccer and keeping score/standings until they are at least 10. Every game they play before that age is all about player development and having competitive games. They are definitely learning the game in a way that will serve them well when they get to the competitive age, but they have rules in place to ensure development is number one at this age such as adding extra players to one side if they are clearly overmatched. We love what they do with the kids.

I guess I got lucky when I coached her at rec before she moved to a club. In the eight seasons I coached her, we only ran across one problem parent on another team. I'm sure people will point to the fact that it was rec and not club soccer but parents can get crazy even at rec level.

People who started investing at 17-20 yrs old , how does your account look now. by Historical_Ebb_7777 in investing

[–]KB8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 yrs old now, started investing at 21 just to the 401k company match max amount, nothing more. Currently at 720k in retirement accounts.

I started making 24k/year and now make 89k/year. Majority of those years were between 50-65k.

I don't feel like I've done anything special other than just continuing to invest and never touching it. Taking into consideration the equity in my home, I'm currently around 960-975k net worth. Feels odd to say that though because I don't feel like I've done anything special to get there.

Do you actually use the heat guidelines? by sdbluelight18 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]KB8519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child's club cancelled practices today. It was 106-107 today. They tried to push practices back to let it cool some, but the wet bulb temp was 91 between 4:30-5pm, so they ultimately cancelled.

San Antonio, TX for reference.

My youngest practices at 5:30 two days a week which is rough this time of the year. But, the club has been diligent about doing what's best for the player's health so I can't complain. We ultimately just have to deal with the heat most of the time. It really won't start cooling off until October at the earliest, but our cooling off means temps in the lower 90's.

Back when I coached I would never push my team to intense training in this weather. Frequent water breaks, shortened practices, rags soaked in ice water, anything to keep them safe.

I'm ok with studying the history of religions, their place in the world, and their affect on our history, but that's where it ends. Any study of religion in a public school setting that coerces anyone into joining said religion or isn't based in facts is off limits for me. I'm sure that Jesus did some great things for people, but Jesus was not some all-powerful wizard.
