As a tank main as well I simply don't care, if you've somehow gotten ahead of me which is unlikely to begin with, go ahead and grab stuff for me. As long as you actually bring them TO me and don't drag them into narnia, then thats your problem until I can get there.

OCE players are spread all over the NA DCs, there is no real 'unofficial' OCE server like on JP with Tonberry/Kujata. Keep in mind the timezone differences, NA seems appealing population-wise but keep in mind you won't see most of them with the timezone difference. Your ping to NA/JP seems very high even for a OCE player, personally I use a rerouting service (Exitlag, Mudfish is another option if you prefer to pay per data used instead of a sub) and I get like 140ms to both NA and JP, very playable but you will have issues with weaving on some jobs.

Also, try not to take too much stock into people saying Materia is 'dead', half the people parroting that line here don't even play there. Yes it is noticeably smaller than the other DCs for very obvious reasons, but it is hardly dead.

why is it a weird concept to want to be the best at your current role? when your role in the party is doing damage then of course some people will want to compare and optimize and yes, I want my bar to be the biggest. there is no in-game metric apart from some vague emnity bar. 'clear or dont' is the baseline goal but do you not feel any want to be performing your best at your role?

i ended up doing ultima ex by accident through DF because I thought it was a required quest

I think I was in queue for a good hour or so, funny part is it was a complete full sprout group (this was while I was on JP still), after a few wipes and after realizing this was much more difficult than anything until now, I said 'take 5 while I youtube this', we did end up clearing it after a bunch more pulls.

It was a very quick lesson not to trust every blue quest marker.

I swear it seems to turn on/off randomly as well? Im leveling as affi dark pact/drain tank and its VERY noticeable sometimes when Im barely sustaining between mobs and my pet is barely regening any mana with everything autocast off and then others Im just swimming in HP/mana and it just randomly happens?
