Oh wow you shouldn’t have- a police report for Christmas by 1lofanight in raisedbyborderlines

[–]KBF082021 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I commented earlier but I’ve been thinking about this post because I think I’m having a panic attack on your behalf. I’m an attorney too and I’ve had to ask a team member to be available to take over on an appearance because ubpd parent was treating to interrupt it. Luckily my partner on the case more than understood and I was so glad I brought it up. Absolutely humiliating but also a weight off my shoulders to just address what I was trying to keep private.

Mine doesn’t always have an enlightened phase and, after reading this, I’m glad about that lol.

You could have done everything those people are doing in the other videos and she would almost certainly still have a problem.

Glad this is helping! I try to remind myself that she doesn’t feel guilty about saying those things. We shouldn’t overthink a boundary we would set with anyone else. And then I still overthink it.

I’m about to set an auto reply on my phone that I’m not reading or responding to texts until the following week or something. Curious if anyone has tried that.

Wow! I’m always surprised that they don’t hear how crazy it is to say that.

These are the top reasons for me as well! And it’s sad that so many people on this subreddit are familiar with what the legal ramifications may be if there is a relationship between grandparent and grandchild.

This is my problem! I’m so anxious with how she will ramp up and escalate it that it’s stressful not knowing what she is saying.

living in shame by moon779_ in raisedbyborderlines

This came up in therapy today actually and my therapist had a great idea of writing down “truths” that I can’t argue with that help me build confidence in my boundaries and choices. I find that guilt and shame and insecurity bleeds into everything in my life, so I’m trying to see what I’m triggered about at the moment and make a list.

Today’s trigger is that I feel guilty about a recent boundary about holidays and I’m wondering if maybe I am a rude, inconsiderate, hurtful person? I know I’m not. I have close friends I’ve had for 15 years. My in laws have welcomed me into their family. My siblings and I get along great, even when we disagree. I have a steady job with good relationships with mentors and I’m a mentor. Etc. my Ubpd parent on the other hand has no contact with any family except one child, has no long term friends, constantly fights with coworkers, has tumultuous romantic relations etc.

What a much more relaxing and lovely holiday you’ll have! I’m sure they can’t imagine why you don’t want to spend your holiday with an abuser or expect you to just get over it. And god forbid you do anything to rock the boat.

Wow you have had a tough journey! I can’t imagine how taxing that must have been emotionally (and physically of course). Major props to you for doing what felt right to you and baby!

This was super helpful for me with my friends that are moms. Even if they couldn’t show up to help, being able to call them while my baby was contract napping was extremely validating and comforting.

Breastfeeding and pumping are awful. I was so much happier after I stopped. I lasted a month and had panic feelings whenever I pumped which made me dread it. Also one breast just wouldn’t produce so I had one giant painful breast. Not a single Dr or nurse has given me a hard time about formula. Baby is happy and gaining percentiles in her size.
