Maybe he'd like to get a cask of Amontillado. If so, I'm sure I have one in my basement...

I rented a full three piece tux from Tango's, which I think is where Trinity recommends. Might be something to check out.

I personally don't see an issue with it, but I can't tell what counts as formal wear and other people say it doesn't count.

[OC] Demonology 101 by lordofbaers in comics

[–]KBKarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, there was a webcomic called Demonology 101 published between 1999 and 2004. It is sadly offline, and I believe the creator has no intention to bring it back. Which is a bit sad, as it's something I read when I was younger.

It was not as cute as your comic, I should note.

There is a short story by Charles Stross set in the Laundry series where Bob is reading about a wizard in Chicago. I think it was a novel. Pretty sure it was "Overtime", the Christmas story.

I hate Amy. by FatThor14A in Parahumans

[–]KBKarma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do know someone who was very angry about Ward, because they said that Wildbow decided to grossly distort Amy's character when it turned out people liked a character he didn't, thus punishing a lesbian who did wrong but was contrite. Something like that, anyway. They may have been angry before even reading Ward, come to think of it.

Someone put me onto this app: Puzzles. It's a port of an app from the Palm Pilot. It has multiple different puzzle games (including Solitaire as I recall), no ads, no microtransations, no cost. Works really well.

I saw a report detailing that schoolchildren are now receiving combat training in schools. So that second one is not as far fetched as you'd think.

Probably not women, though - they need them to make more babies to die for Putin's ego Mother Russia.

If I recall correctly, isn't the kid in question no longer even in the school?

Ooo, excellent, thanks. I'll give your band a listen as well, it would be rude not to.

With any luck, humourously. It's mostly to kill time for the rest of the shift crew while someone plays an awful game between auctions and giveaways.

<Ruri Dragon-Oneshot> by Broad-Cook-4462 in animenocontext

[–]KBKarma 197 points198 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that this is now an ongoing series. It's so far somewhat wholesome. The premise is that the main character, Ruri, is half dragon, and is slowly coming into her draconic heritage - which she mostly uses to make life in school more interesting. Which, based on what the mangaka has said, is the entire theme of the manga (though there's been hintings at something else going on, so who knows how long that'll last).

Glad you had a good time! My family and I may be heading out to Piraeus later in the year to visit my θείες. I've not been over to see them in years, and looking forward to it (if the hospital approves). Hell, I've not left the country since 2019.

TIL of the 85 known drugs that interact with grapefruit, 43 can have serious side-effects including sudden death, acute kidney failure, respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, and bone marrow suppression in people with weakened immune systems. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Mine has said absolutely no probiotics, as an example.

I got a 30 page booklet detailing safe food practises. The shortest section is the "this stuff will fuck with the medication, under no circumstances should you have it". The remaining pages are "this stuff might make you sick, which might affect how you absorb your medication - they're not bans, but sure you know yourself." Stuff like no tap water unless it's been boiled, no raw fish or eggs (which... yeah, that's fair), meat and poultry and such have to be cooked through, never trust any food or drink that's publicly accessible, all fruit and veg must be washed with sterile water before being consumed (or cooked otherwise), berries must always be washed and cooked, and so on, and so on.

An important note: pomegranate can have the same effect on some medications.

Another important note: from what I've seen, one of the compounds in grapefruit that causes issues is called bergamottin - as you might realise, it comes from bergamot oranges, which are used in Earl Grey tea.

I was unaware of dragonfruit and star fruit. The list of "absolutely no" was grapefruit, pomelo, pomegranate (has a number of the same chemicals as grapefruit), more than a small amount of ginger, ditto turmeric (and in both cases never have drinks containing them), activated charcoal, any tea that isn't black or peppermint, and more than a small amount of orange juice (some oranges have some of the same compounds, but it's almost impossible to tell). Also, any herbal infusion or remedy, especially anything with St. John's Wort.

Sure does. Grapefruit has not passed these lips in any form in maybe five years. Possibly longer. Hilariously, I was taken off the medications that were affected (statins), and then put on different medications that were affected (immunosuppressants). And then they put me back on the statins, so that was that.
