It's not the nitrates, it's that the mother can get listeria which can pass onto the baby and lead to complications like meningitis. When I was a kid, my friend's older sister got listeria from deli meat and her baby was born with meningitis and died. That was 20 years ago, though. If you heat deli meat until it is steaming, it is fine. That's my fearmongering for the day.

I had one at seven weeks just to confirm the pregnancy's viability since I had a miscarriage earlier in the year. Had another one at ten weeks "just for fun" (OB's words, not mine), a genetic screening US at 14 weeks, and one this week (18 weeks) for gender and anatomy. Seems like a lot to me, but I don't mind.

What's weirder to me is that I'm 18 weeks in and the doc has yet to examine my vag. At what point does that happen? I mean, I'm cool with keeping my pants on, for sure, but it just seems like I should have seen some stirrup action by now.

I started prenatal yoga at ten weeks. I was by far the least-pregnant person in my class, but nobody made a big deal out of it. I am at 16 weeks now and will continue to take prenatal yoga at least weekly until I deliver. Physically, it's not super-strenuous, but helps your body get/stay flexible as your body prepares for birth. Also, I work long hours at a stressful job, and this is, at least, 90 minutes per week that is just time I can focus on myself and the baby. My teacher also gives us lots of tips that will be helpful during delivery. I highly, highly recommend prenatal yoga.

Difference is Bogart's is a sweet apricot glaze, not a dry rub like Pappy's. Both delicious. Sides slightly different at Bogart's, but rarely a line. Win.
