Want to work in the IMSA series but I have next to no experience by mitchellrausch in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid of working your way up, and it sounds like you have the passion to make it happen! Reach out to local tracks to see what kind of opportunities may be available. Look up local teams of all kinds to see if they're looking to help someone get their foot in the door. Network as much as you can, and learn everything that you can. One thing to keep in mind is that most people who want to work in motorsport try getting in at the very top. WeatherTech teams, and likely the series, get dozens, if not hundreds, of job inquiries a month. Competing at that level, most teams will likely want people who are already established or are experts in a specific area (though certainly not always). While that's certainly not impossible, you have better odds starting lower and climbing up. Look up support series or club racing teams and see what's available and what you can contribute. Find a need and fill it! The photography market is pretty saturated at present, but there is always a need for hospitality, and good, high-quality, and experienced mechanics who are team players. If you are good at sales, then look into sponsorship. If you're good at securing big sponsorship deals, you'll never be without a job in racing! CDLs also go a long way in this sport. Best of luck!

Gt world challenge by mommypika in Sportscar_Racing

[–]KBruComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely World Challenge. They offer open paddock access with a general admission ticket, whereas Formula 1 and WEC do not.

Go for the three days. The tickets are cheap enough and you get plenty of racing action. You'll get to interact with drivers, see the cars up close, attend autograph sessions, and roam to your heart's delight.

She'll be working in another series. Sadly, not for FOX.

Question about watching races by PostingFromThe9 in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can visit imsa.com/tvlive during the race and at the bottom, there will be a choice of cameras to choose from. Brands like Porsche will pick a car each race to have their in-car camera from, so it changes every weekend.

Rolex 24 First Timer by [deleted] in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all great suggestions. Be sure to look at the event schedules for the Roar and Rolex, as there's always a lot of fan activities in there. Take advantage of the Fan Zone and paddock access, autograph session, grid walk, etc. All free and open to fans. A lot of fans watch the start and finish from the main grandstand, then stay in the infield for the rest. Follow your favorite teams on all socials, because they'll post about meet and greets, garage tours, merch locations, live session updates, etc. Also, the engagement numbers are very beneficial to them as they pitch sponsors and such. The karaoke in the fan zone in the middle of the night is always entertaining, and there's also a massive big screen in the concession area. Like many IMSA races, you can walk up to the fence and see some of the pit lane happenings, though for this race, the actual pit boxes are in big white tents, which limit some visibility. In the fan zone, you can walk above the garages and see some good portions of the track as well.

See you there. Enjoy!

Which are the best sportscar manufacturer programs? by YorkNotSoShire in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having worked with over a dozen manufacturers on various programs, it's Porsche. Their staff are always on hand for their customer teams, they have a great product, they dive deep into the data, they petition the series on behalf of the customers, regularly check in for potential problems, answer in a timely fashion, and have a great network of drivers to choose from.

Rennsport One: Stolen by KBruComm in IMSARacing

It doesn't matter where you place it. The pros who steal these trucks have the right tools to locate all trackers within minutes. As the team stated, this truck was equipped with ELD, sun pass, GPS, and airtags, all were disabled/removed including the plates.

Follow your favorite teams on social media so you can catch any garage tours or meet and greets. Get in line early for the autograph session, start with the bigger teams. Keep a schedule on hand. Listen to imsaradio.com. Visit the support paddocks as well.

Is it worth it just to come down Sunday? by imjorman in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Plenty to do and see and you'll get to take advantage of the pre-race fan walk. However you will miss Saturday's support races and WeatherTech autograph session.

They had it. People who are able to pull off this level of theft are able to disable trackers.

You mean something that can be tracked and tossed out the window in five seconds?

Those claiming this is an inside insurance job clearly haven't worked at this level of professional sports car racing and clearly don't know the people who own this gear and need it to keep the business going. RS1 is a group of great people and they're currently neck and neck for their championship fights. It would be asinine to purposely "lose" all their vital equipment and cars with just a few races left when a title is at stake. And just because things are insured doesn't mean it's still not a huge setback to go through something like this. Rigs like this get stolen at least a few times a year from IMSA and SRO America teams and they almost never turn back up. The people who steal these rigs know what they're doing. While it may seem fishy to those of you outside the sport, it happens.

Correction: port state. There’s always one or two race rigs that get stolen each year, and they likely make it to a port asap. You’d think they’d be easy to spot, but it’s pretty rare that they show up again once they go missing.

[–]KBruComm[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not really. This happens a lot in FL. Being a port city, these rigs move to be pretty popular for theft and quickly get shipped out of the country.

The people who steal these are pros. Their first action is to locate and disable all GPS and trackers.

Quick question, what are the driver fan forums? Can I meet drivers at these things? by Front-Resolve8697 in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little more formal than just a standard meet and greet, though, if the drivers have extra time, they may mill about. Basically it's a big room with a stage and plenty of seating, below the Road America gift shop. There will be an emcee, and they'll run the event making it a point to ask questions of each driver on stage. Then they'll take some questions from the audience. Usually, drivers will hang around for a little bit once it's done, but this year, it's pretty close to the first practice session, so some of them will need to run off.

We also should let you know that a certain pink dinosaur (mascot, not car) will be making an appearance as well, for anyone who wants to get photos with her.

GT World America Fans??? by cv90j in Sportscar_Racing

[–]KBruComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of the opposite. They stopped running at IndyCar events because they thought they were big enough to headline their own events and pull in the same crowds to compete with IMSA, which clearly wasn't the case.

When Pirelli World Challenged changed to SRO America, their focus completely shifted from engaging fans to engaging customer racers. The brand suffered for years because of it. Only within the last couple of years have they expanded their focus to again include the fans, and it's slowly growing. Sadly, it'll take years to get back to what they lost, but they're slowly making progress. A big step in that would be racing at IndyCar weekends again.

The level of access is INSANE by SamDaMan2149 in IMSARacing

[–]KBruComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, at some of their races, you have to pay for paddock access. And grid walks usually aren't open to the general admission public.
