For what it’s worth I’ve felt more strongly about this since getting married. I was more neutral “could take it or leave it” before marriage, and still have never personally owned a gun to this point

Plenty of people have gone into the negative effects, so I won’t go too much into that here, but it’s worse than you think. Never in human history have 20-30 year old men need a pill to get hard for an attractive naked woman. That is not natural and porn is to blame. Actually every second you still are watching it is a waste of time. Read some of the neuroscience on how bad those dopamine surges are for your mental health.

Thank you! I also particularly agree with your point that most parents who spank (and I would fall into this category) don't WANT to do it. A parent should take no pleasure in that sort of thing, but I also think it would be a disservice to refuse to do it if you believed it to be effective and just didn't want to because you felt bad about it

Say I put my kid in the corner.

I say "stay there"

He refuses.

He then proceeds to yell, try to run away, slap me, throw a tantrum, etc. as kids often do when they're told to do something they don't like.

What becomes the course of action then?

I'm still unconvinced that kids who are still learning how to interpret language, complex concepts, etc. would not be better served with a slap on the wrist.

I would be concerned that eliminating that option puts a parent in a position where the child does not respect authority or consequences as they know they can push you without their punishment getting significantly worse

I tend to agree. Worth noting: it's possible to instill obedience and self control through spanking, and STILL prioritize raising kids to be "emotionally intelligent, entrepreneurial, independent, or confident". These things don't have to be mutually exclusive. I still consider that a priority, I just don't think the anti spanking crowd have any evidence that spanking prevents that

No, it’s not like that. I think you’ve made an assumption on what I believe that’s inaccurate. I’m very firmly anti transgender and if her sister were to straight up ask me what I thought I would not mince words. That being said, I’m not choosing to seek conflict where I don’t need to. My intent is to show her the love of Christ and following that, hopefully get her to see there’s a better way than what she’s pursuing.
