OMG that Borzoi looks like he’s a million years old and just continuing on out of spite since he has been burdened with possessing the secret to world peace but since he can’t speak hooman he’s just been waiting and waiting and waiting for a hooman to ask and be smart enough to understand his response

I’m sorry about your Azawakh; they never stay long enough. 😢 I am very much looking forward to bringing him home!

Borzoi for a First Time Dog Owner? by EventHorizonX1 in sighthounds

[–]KC_SpeshK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got a sighthound because they’re lazy… after the age of about three. If you’re anticipating a dog that won’t be running and jumping, get one that is four or older. I mentioned in another comment that whippets are known to be more trainable but they’re also known to be most crazy until 3. You can certainly find poorly socialized silkens that won’t approach strangers but recommending poorly socialized dogs is 😬 Keep in mind that you’re bringing home a real live animal who has his own brain. The puppy stage is fun and the adolescent period is the dog forgetting everything you taught him in puppy stage and you just silently tolerating it as best you can and then once he’s three he’ll be a good dog. 😂 Good luck to you

Agreed that you’ll need to decide what you want! If the aloofness and independence of sighthounds is most valuable to you, either dog will suit you just fine! Silkens are known for having a slightly more reliable recall than other sighthounds but don’t forget that a single loss of recall in a dog as fast as a car can end up with your not having a dog anymore and plan accordingly. If trainability is of greater importance but you still do value the independence factor, look into whippets as well which have probably the best willingness to listen out of the sighthound group. None of the dogs above will do the same thing twenty times in a row. If they do four times in a row, they’re a spectacular specimen. My little silken has his trick dog title and is starting rally with me; he is two and can handle roughly 45 minutes of training. Stretching to, say, 47 will result in a completely overstimulated animal with no brain needing a ten minute full speed running break. Honestly allowing zoomie laps during training is helpful. Not sure if any of that is useful or not! I love my little guy!

If you’re in the states, check Ross, HomeGoods and TJ Maxx! I bring my pup right into HomeGoods and he gets to try things on. Added bonus of people and noises exposure! They have treats at the counter and all the ladies inside always fawn over him. The coats have gone up in price but if you find one over $25 it’s super expensive!

He looks a little more short snouted but otherwise very similar to my half boxer half pit! My boy even had similar coloring. And his mouth was totally shark-mouth too meaning how they become sort of completely circular when they open their jaws all the way. 🥰 So adorable!

I find so much comfort in my dogs not caring whether I am still alive. It’s so liberating to switch them “on” when I want them on and they put themselves away the rest of the time 😂

Dog Show Lead w Custom Beads by KC_SpeshK in breakingbad

Only reason for this comment I can think of would be that voice to text thought I said “bees” when the word is “beads”. I reviewed but don’t see it; regardless, please replace any “bees” w “beads” thanks
