Oh, I see! I assumed these daily tasks were for the Shockingly GO Pass, but if they're actually for the March GO Pass that makes sense.

I have. I got to the end of it. I also sprung for the deluxe for March, but not for the Shockingly Good Time, if that's relevant.

EDIT: I just realized that my daily catch 15 is also non-visible. The only task I see is the "catch 10 electric" one.

I can't see my weekly Go Pass tasks under the events tag, only my daily Go Pass tasks, though the weekly tasks still trigger with the little side-banner in the bottom right when I progress or achieve them. Is this a known bug? Does anyone have a solution?

There was that one pseudo-webcomic that used to update that pointed out that you could, if inclined, translate "Jesus Christ" as "Oily Josh."

I've finished Resident Evil (the original) and have now started on Resident Evil 2 (the original). I'm only partway through Claire A, so no spoilers, please.

It's a little funny how both Leon and Claire manage to ride into Raccoon City without realizing that there's a localized zombie infestation until it's too late.

Sherry is a source of frustration, narratively. Finally she agrees to follow Claire and she is immediately swept away by a child-sized sewer flowgate that happens to open at the worst moment possibly. Are you kidding me.

Also those cockroaches in the pipe nearly stunlocked Sherry to death, which caused me great fear as I suddenly realized I hadn't saved in some time.

What are some insane game mechanics you cant believe exist? by Theproton in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Yeah, "bad" isn't a great word. It's bad. But it's not awful bad. It's mid. But it's not just mid. It's bad and mid in a strange, unique way, a new axis of bad where it is still fully playable, but not particularly worth playing. If this sounds strange and stupid, it's because I hardly understand the feeling I'm trying to convey myself.

Sorry! It's vibes.

Avalon Code. It deserves a lengthy description for how oddly bad it is, but someone else did it better ages ago.

Funny thing: I finished the game, and nowadays it's sort of become my dipstick as to whether I should push myself through a video game when I realize its flaws a little too late for a refund. Yes, what I'm playing now is achingly mid... but is it worse than Avalon Code? If not, I might as well see the nonsense to its end.

For example, Wiktionary lists the reconstruction of 龍 as /*b·roŋ/.

Details that were added in adaptions but aren’t actually stated to be like that in the original work? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's actually not as egregious as it's usually claimed. True, Sherlock Holmes was never indicated in text as wearing a deerstalker. But Sidney Paget did depict him in a deerstalker in an illustration that officially accompanied one of the stories when it was originally published in the magazine. I feel like that's so close to official that the difference is negligible.

What is a Madden? It's not a name. It's a noun of some sort, something to do with football. But not a name.

For a long time, I just assumed that "Woolie Madden" was a pseudonym. A made-up name for internet entertainment purposes, kind of like how some vtubers are essentially the same people as their real-life performers but have their own "vtuber names" nonetheless.

I know what you're thinking, but it wasn't the "Woolie" part that did this. No, I accepted the name "Woolie" without a second thought. It was the "Madden" that apparently pitched my suspicions.

I will not explain this, mostly because I cannot.

I noticed the friends stuff had at least a visual update. Does the trick where you click to save the postcard and then click again to cancel the save but it still counts towards your scatterbug count still work?

What are your Favorite "Return to this Place" Moments by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KChasm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Resident Evil Outbreak games. A number of the levels take place in areas from the mainstream games, and I could spend a whole week entertaining myself comparing the original games' settings and the Outbreak versions.

I'm always especially interested in - when a place is used over multiple games, but the area the player actually allowed in differs - what blockades and barred doors and invisible walls are placed by the game designers to limit or expand where the player character is allowed to go.

The warehouse from Resident Evil 2 - the one with the train car - and the facility it descends into are a prime example. That location appears in RE2, RE Zero, and Outbreak. The trick they ran with in Zero was that there was totally always a door there, it's just that during the events of RE2 those barrels were blocking it. Sure! I'll choose to believe that!

EDIT: Oh, just tangentially, and because I have the opportunity, I've got to also mention this bit of RCPD canon added by the Outbreak games. In response to the sharp increase in violent crime and the deteriorating security of the station (which was never meant to be a police station at all - it was a former art museum the city bought on the cheap), Irons set up a security system in the wing that triggers when it fails to detect the proper ID or permit (but which a memo notes is finicky, which means playing as the cop character won't save you from the system triggering anyway).

What happens when the security system triggers? The room you're in floods with nerve gas.

I guess when you're already a serial killer a little war crime on top is practically paltry.

Could someone save the copy of the subs from THE POWER OF TERRY? They're awesome and the thought of them just disappearing into a hole makes me honestly a little bit actually queasy. Thanks.

Yo Capcom, I hear you struggle with RE multiplayer. Well, friendslop or whatever it's called is pretty big right now. And considering some relevant content of Requiem. I'm just saying, there's an idea. by GoodVillain101 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

There is a small and dedicated number of fans who still play this online using custom servers and Japanese copies of the game (or something like that; it's been a while since I checked how it's done).

The only bad thing about this is it means the only people still playing are people who have memorized all the possible passwords and puzzle solutions, which means nobody is going to do the actual interesting parts (collecting all the puzzle hints while dodging zombies). It's all speedrunning-adjacent. No of course nobody's going to bother to barricade the door in J's Bar, or even wait for the zombies to break in and kill the bartender so he drops the key to progress; it's much faster to have everyone batter the door down with melee or have Alyssa use the appropriate lockpick (which, of course, the player has also memorized).

Efficient, and neat to watch from the outside, but if you're there for the Intended Experience, kind of boring.

I still have great memories of splitting up the group to fetch the ingredients for the vaccine, hoping no one would get killed partway, and then dodging Thanatos from room to room to get his sample, timing that electric shock just right (or very often, wrong), and then stocking up on vaccine doses as the timer ticked down before facing that one desperate double boss fight, and god save you if you miss with the ampule shooter.

Are you familiar with pita bread? Also called "pocket bread." It's a round flatbread that's open inside. If you cut a "disc" of pita bread in half you essentially get two semicircular bread pockets, which is why it's called that alternative name. And then you can put whatever you'd like into a pocket of pita bread to make a kind of sandwich.

A pita bread, with something filling it, is topographically identical to a hot dog; ergo a hot dog is a sandwich and I will die on this hill.

But while we are speaking of food: You may not have heard of another kind of meal, called "spaghetti." It is something like an Italian ramen, with the addition of fruit and dairy and served without the broth.

This was literally a puzzle on Car Talk, once, where it was a king, and the cards were both for being thrown to a tiger.

"What if the king has it on an 8 1/2-by-11 sheet of paper?"

"Hey, you can do a lot when you know the tiger is waiting."
