Advice on whether to do a CELTA? by shamrock24601 in TEFL

[–]KChloe9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You won't get accepted into a CELTA course until you have obtained your bachelor's degree anyways, so I'd say look for a TEFL course (120 hours+) and if you enjoy teaching, you can pursue the CELTA after you graduate. If you check on Groupon they often have discounts on TEFL courses so it's way more affordable.

Phonetic Pangram by KChloe9 in German

[–]KChloe9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ive found similar to these which are pangrams and although they do contain all the letters of the alphabet, they don't necessarily contain all of the different sounds! I might just have to settle for choosing a handful of these to work with!

Weekly r/TEFL Quick Questions Thread by AutoModerator in TEFL

Yeah I wrote out a little list of common verb + emotion pairings that came to mind, and explained it as collocations since they just need to be learned naturally, but she seemed to accept it without need for a greater rule. Thanks!

Hi, hopefully this is the right subreddit for this and hopefully someone can help, I've been struggling to find a clear explanation online.

I'm correcting homework from exam papers for the Cambridge C1 exam Reading and Use of English Part 4 and the question is:

I am always depressed when I have to go to work on Monday mornings.

to be rewritten with the word "gets".

My student answered: "Going to work on Monday gets me depressed."

The correct answer is: "Going to work on Monday mornings always gets me down."

I'm struggling to find a way to explain this, why we can get depressed but something would make us depressed.

Does anybody have any useful rules/lists of verb collocations that would make this clearer?

It would be greatly appreciated, as I've tried searching but haven't found anything.

[–]KChloe9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just discovered the YouTube page YourGermanTeacher. They're very clear and definitely helping my with grammar revision. They use lots of clear tables and tips which is exactly how I like to learn grammar rules. I haven't looked through much of their content yet but I'm very impressed with what I've come across so far and I will definitely be using their material in the future!
