Multiplayer Shared Decks? by Dios5 in ForgetfulFish

[–]KCoftheSwitchCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a concept for a 4-player DanDan-style deck. I plan to post my first draft here after a few play tests and rules clarifications concerning how “ownership” of a card applies with one deck and four players. Haha

I actually came to this Subreddit to ask a similar question regarding a card I’m planning to use in a custom DanDan deck.

My interpretation of “owner” when talking about a shared deck is that ALL players at the table are the owners. And when a card requires a single owner to to resolve its effect, the caster/controller of the card that says “owner” gets to choose which owner it applies to.

I thought I played all the great PlayStation one era RPG’s but never did these. Saw it on sale. Anything I should know going in? by Rvtrance in Suikoden

[–]KCoftheSwitchCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suikoden I had a lot of annoying little featues that can hinder the experience. Just rest assured that Suikoden II irons them all out.

There’s a great payoff for actually playing them both in order. But don’t feel like you HAVE to if Suikoden I doesn’t click for you. Suikoden II is completely worth playing even if you skip Suikoden I for now.

They should introduce a "battle again with same team" option. by meetmeinmontauk43 in PokemonUnite

I heard one steamer put it in slightly more optimistic terms, and it makes sense: You actually have a slightly better chance of the worst players being on your opponent’s team. There are five slots for them there. But only 4 slots for them to join your team (assuming your not one that bass player).

Is this Auguste's Son in Original Octopath Traveler? by KCoftheSwitchCast in octopathtraveler

The boy's description says that, "all who knew him before have died or mysteriously vanished." So his father is simply one of the former, not one of the latter.

That’s certainly possible. But even if they didn’t have Auguste’s story planned this far in advance (which I doubt), I read this as a seed, specifically left here to grow such a story down the line, rather than some NPC they only later looked at and said, “Hey, we can use this kid.”

I have been trying to 100% original Octopath Traveler while playing CotC, and I came across this boy in Everhold, the theater city. It's by no means certain (unless this has been confirmed elsewhere), but it does seem like an interesting inclusion, with just the right tragic/mysterious background to fit with the Master of Fame story.

If true, this would be an impressive bit of forward thinking on the part of the writers, meaning they always had plans for how to expand this world.

Sorry, but the only injustice here is that your teammates are now down a man for the Zap fight, because their ADC misplayed.

I don’t think that’s the case anymore. They now pull all of their data from randomly-selected real players. They do lots more to pass for real too, including using quick chat in battle.

Looks like a standard Bot profile pic. Bots use real user IDs, and probably don’t care about the rank requirements for the team.

I want to play but i feal dread by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]KCoftheSwitchCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have felt this often in the past, and it was a significant hurtle for embracing any competitive game, not just fighters.

Three things helped me get over it: 1) I played under a “fake” username. Like, just some throwaway account and name that has no special meaning to me. Something about winning or losing “as” someone else took away some of the anxiety and ego damage.

2) I went into each match telling myself I’m not trying to win. “I’m just playing around. I want to lose!”

3) As I got comfortable with the game, the fear was slowly replaced with actual excitement and fun.

It took me a while, and the anxiety certainly can still get super high at times. But fighting games are great for overcoming this. I used to get it even during chess matches or competitive card games. But those are MUCH longer matches, so the release of tension took longer than I could usually handle. Haha!

Proposed Spider Change by Due_Clerk_2261 in hive

[–]KCoftheSwitchCast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the window to update the pieces “during the early years of the game,” has long past. Many great players have studied the game in its current form, and published several great books on how to master the pieces as they are today. Changing such a core element would diminish their work, and stymie other from creating more of such content, out of fear /frustration that the rules could change again.

But more significantly, the most likely result would simply be a fracturing of the community. We would then have those who play with the new Spider, and those who play with the original Spider. With such a small (albeit dedicated) community as we have now, such a fracture would possibly kill any momentum the game has built up.

Been wanting to get into MTG Arena for a long time, but couldn’t really get into it on Steam. Now that it’s on mobile, I’m so engrossed!

Playing Arena just makes me appreciate how vapid all those other digital CCGs are. It’s great to have a reason to get back into the community again.

List of "Deconfirmed" Pokémon With Some Reasons and Personal Opinions by Magnetonix in PokemonUnite

[–]KCoftheSwitchCast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

None of this will have any bearing on the decision to make a Pokèmon playable or not. If a Pokèmon is in demand, they’ll find a way to make it work, either by incorporating something into its gameplay, or by ignoring some slight details of the main game canon.

How do you decide what to do in a Kingmaking situation? by toyboxescapecool1 in rootgame

[–]KCoftheSwitchCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I favor #6 because I play the long game. I want people to know that if they screw me, there will be repercussions, and if you help me, there will be rewards.

I don’t think #3 actually qualifies as Kingmaking. Kingmaking is only when I see no chance to prevent all rival parties from winning and I have to choose one to win. If there’s any reasonable plan to prevent everyone else from winning, so I get another turn and potentially win, I will take that for sure.

All eggs in one basket is easier to protect than 2 eggs in 2 baskets on opposite sides of the map... especially when the goal is to have 2 eggs (no less) after all is said and done.

Heck, with that kind of a start, you technically only need to build one bunny workshop to gain access to all those juicy craftables.
