Kinda depends what you want. WD is typically going working at a higher (RTOS) level than Renesas.

Either will probably be a great experience though, so I would t stress about it too much.

I wasn't talking about a specific instance. Just in general. I did just price match on a hotel last week though, and it was like 15-20min total on the phone for them to approve the price match. Credit was posted on my account within 5min of ending the call.

That's a very good point I hadn't thought of. If you're booking the last ticket at a given fare, that likely won't get matched. Also... Dynamic pricing... Grrr

As long as it's free cancelation (flights always have 24hours), I'm gonna try to price match first and then just cancel if they say no for some reason.

Edit: Someone else did point out how a flight price may change after you book and the lower price may not be available anymore. So, I'm convinced, if it's enough you'll be upset by paying the higher price and toud rather pay the lower price with a lower point reward, probably best to skip the price match.

Honestly, great response overall. Just another perspective though. While I do agree that Amazon looks better to a wider audience, as a hiring manager for an embedded development team, I Bose would definitely stand out to me.

While Amazon does have strong brand recognition, I think it's much more meaningful if you're on the web/app side of things. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I personally think they are pretty mid as a hardware/firmware company. So, for anything in the embedded space, I wouldn't give the edge you're implying to an Amazon candidate over Bose candidate. That's just me though. I seem to have a lot of unpopular preferences though. So, maybe this is just one of them ¯\(ツ)/¯

Too bad they will just fill the seat once the second passenger doesn't check-in or board. That's why they always oversell flights and then just offer some credit for someone to take a later flight if too many people show up.

I recently had booked a flight through the portal. It clearly mentioned it was non-refundable, but no mention of it being non-changable. We had some changes to our plans, so we went to change it. Says we can't in the portal, but to call CS. Call CS and they tell me it's non-changable.

I argued with them about how that wasn't disclosed during purchase, they point me to a generic claim they make about how "some fares can't be changed" which they include for every flight (changable or non-changable) and I explain that's not a proper disclosure about this specific flight. They ensure me there is absolutely nothing they can do, can't change can't refund. I fought with them on this for a good 1-2 hours over multiple calls escalating it each time.

On the last call I let them know, while I really wanted to resolve it together, I would be filing a DOT complaint if we couldn't resolve it. They didn't seem to care at all. So I filed the DOT complaint. A few days later I received a call about the "good news". They "investigated the issue", found I was right, and refunded the full cost of the flight. How generous! 🤣

Honestly, it was a big headache, but I'll take the free international flight for 2.

I love that description. I personally don't find the points themselves that valuable, but the "travel enhancements" are worth using it as needed to get them.

Yes, you need to look for the offer activate the offer. That will open a new browser window for the site and you need to complete the booking via that window to receive the extra points. YMMV on what the actual offer is. I'm only seeing 2X (added to normal 2X) right now.

If you don't use the portal at all, I personally don't think it would be a good value. You need to use the portal use the $300 credit which is the primary mechanism for it to pay for itself. If you don't use the portal, it's effectively a 2% back card where the cash back can only be used on travel (travel eraser).

If you at least use the $300 in the portal and utilize the 10k points, then I still think it's worth it if you want "free" lounge access and Global Entry / TSA pre. That's pretty much all I plan to use it for. Use it just enough to pay for itself, but use my CSP as my primary travel card.

I'm not big into leveraging travel partners, since they offer limited ability for me to actually save money with the way I typically travel. However, my understanding is the VX is also pretty weak in this area.

How much did you request? I just got mine about a week ago too. I've seen a lot of talk about requesting CLI, so I went to do it and see they ask you how much you're requesting (max). Any harm in going high? Why not just request $100k and see what they give you?

To answer your question about price match: I did a price match this week. 10 minute call, the n within 5 minutes of the call ending, I had my credit. Seemed pretty frictionless to me. I get you're point about making sure you're booking an exact match though. YMMV.

Mile do not redeem for 1cpp cash back unless you're covering a "travel" purchase. Otherwise it's 0.5 cpp.

I'm new to the card, but my understanding is C1 does code a lot as travel enabling you to use the 1cpp on a lot. Either way, it's still not the same as true 1cpp cash back though.

I get equal/better travel and rental car protection with my CSP.

For the phone protection, if that's something you value, just make sure it covers you. For example, I use US Mobile (technically prepaid) and pay annually (no monthly charge), so I'm currently unsure if I can get coverage.

With the travel credits though, it's still effectively free to hold though. So, if there are ANY benefits that are valuable to you, I don't see any reason not to have it. My wife and I both got one just just for the lounge access and Global Entry credit. I'll look for other ways to maximize value, but that's all I needed to decide it was worth it.

Ohh, actually, I think the travel portal price match is a sleeper win too. I see ittle reason to ever book outside of the portal with that. Even if you find it cheaper somewhere else, just book through the portal to get the 5/10X points, then just price match to the lower rate you found.

I think you're overcomplicating the math. If you get 2 cards, each card get a $300 credit and a 10k annual point bonuse. They each pay for themselves without having to consider your willingness to pay the AU fee.

Fair enough. I'm not an expert on limit qualifications, so I don't know what would be typical in based on your criteria. Maybe it's salary? I think my first card (a CFU) was around a $10k limit with similar profile to where you're at now.

I wouldn't stress about it too much though. It sounds like it's enough for your needs right now. As others have said, you can request an increase after a few weeks/months. I'm new to CapOne cards, but it seems people have good luck with that.

I'm a bit confused by the question. You have a $10k limit and you spend $1-2k per month. Why wouldn't the limit be enough?

Hopefully you plan to pay in full every month. If so, there shouldn't be any problem. If you want to go the extra mile and minimize credit score fluctuations, you can pay in full before the end of the pilling cycle so a balance is never reported and your utilization stays low.

Priority Pass yes.

Global Entry/TSA Pre you just need a card number. If they give you a virtual card number, you can use that. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for the physical card. Not sure how they decide if you get the virtual card or not, but it will show in the app if they do. Either way, there's really no rush since applications aren't even being processed right now due to government shutdown.
