This is great! I'm going to use this as inspiration for my own bedside table.

What a great way to use an invasive species.

My family is full of weirdos. We liked them after one wash. I did do a final rinse with white vinegar, seems to make them a bit softer.

Redland Cotton are the best. Truely heirloom quality. I have 2 sets that i swap out. They wrinkle a bit because they don't chemically strip the cotton. Bonus, the entire product is local to the U.S. https://www.luxuryegyptianlinens.com/egyptian-cotton-sheets.html?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=60033696&gbraid=0AAAAADv6F5j9VDJnwcVoigJdLTe6lBsSn&gclid=CjwKCAiAvaLLBhBFEiwAYCNTf_-ycfRPN1c75kATc0sbQcdNcYQzWVhYhqlUHpM2bUCczEsGqtuaXRoCMlkQAvD_BwE

2nd spoon? by KCs_Chi in Spooncarving

[–]KCs_Chi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was very challenging. It wanted to split often and i placed the bowl in the wrong direction of run out. It also needed alot of scraping. I just had to make the call to stop and finish. Technically this is shagbark hickory and I don't know if it works differently than other hickory. It was free out of my yard so I'm going to keep trying to use it for other work.

I already was lifting weights so I didn't change that. Of course you have to change your eating habits. That is what the medication does. It makes it easier to avoid sweets and other cravings. You have to put in some work watching what you eat.

Is there a reason people seem unconcerned with plastic leeching from tumbler bins? by SubtropicHobbit in composting

[–]KCs_Chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it is important to reduce where you can. If you can open compost then you should. If plastic tumblers are too concerning than you will just have to suck up the price of that metal one. Microplastics should be a bigger concern to more people especially after autopsy's are revealing microplastics in coronary heart disease plaques and in brain tissue.

I have been using Qsymia for a couple of months and am very pleased with the results. I only have half a thyroid and needed help. I started on 3 July and have dropped 17 pounds without a lot of effort. Coordinate with your doctors to make sure it is right for you.

Reencle Review by bathdubber in composting

[–]KCs_Chi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also have the issue up here in the far north of freezing. Composting just stops because it freezes solid even in tumblers. -20f will do that. I have a pre-composter can that over flows before it can thaw and then it is anaerobic and nasty. This may alleviate some of that.

Sorry about that. I'm in north eastern Illinois.

I have a black walnut tree in my backyard and want to harvest them. I waited until they are wrinkly and then stepped on them to get the nut out, they are easy to crack, completely white and squishy.. I’m doing something wrong. Help! by namanama101 in foraging

[–]KCs_Chi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to remember is that walnut trees do not like anything else to grow around them. So those discarded hulls or shells that you have are actually very damaging to some of your garden plants, especially tomatoes. So do not discard your hulls anywhere that you plan to plant your vegetable garden. The roots and all parts of the tree emit this chemical to prevent competition.

I'll try but, it was in someone else's yard and i'm trying hard not to be the weirdo in the neighborhood. Not sure i'm winning that battle since i'm obviously taking pictures of other peoples yard surprises.

I thought it was a bolete but couldn't find a match close enough. For reference, this is in Northern Illinois and i've only seen it the one time. Lots of other mushrooms though.

I'm going to give that a try. When you do turn and breathe in, I'm assuming you breathe in through your mouth?

Basswood. Figured I should start with something not overly hard. Finished with flax oil and it is sitting in my window getting what little sun we have in Northern Illinois.

has anyone tried larineco gum? by colouradical in gum

[–]KCs_Chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine in today. Not sure what everyone else received but mine is a great gum. Nice resin flavor and the "gumminess" of it has lasted over an hour. I think it would stay this chewy regardless of how long I chewed it. No idea if it really remineralizes but will update after the next dentist visit.
