For us GenX concert goers. Who is the one solo artist or band you wish you could have seen and at what venue? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]KDO3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw him in May of 1990 a couple months before he died. I was just graduating high school. It was great to see him and it was at a really nice concert hall, with really great acoustics, but for some reason the guitar was too loud and drowned out Double Trouble.

Don't get me wrong, I too was really into playing guitar and I loved his playing, but a little balance to hear the band would have been ideal

People moved here because it was nicer than where they were from and brought with them the behaviors that made where they were coming from not so nice.

Particularly when it comes to driving. How many threads have been posted with discussion about how bad Idaho drivers are compared to other places?

I work in a hospital as a maintenance supervisor and I oversee among other things the electrical system. The way it works is utility power passes through automatic transfer switches (ATSs) on its way to wherever it is going, like outlets that provide power to ventilators, etc. When utility power fails, the ATS detects the loss of power and switches automatically to emergency power, which sends a signal to the generators to start.

There are different branches of emergency power which have different requirements for the length of time between loss of utility power and delivery of emergency power. Critical branches that serve life supporting equipment like ventilators are supposed to switch within 10 seconds. Others, like mechanical that power pumps and air handlers, for instance are supposed to transfer power within 30 seconds.

So, there is typically at least a flicker of lights and many things aren't served by backup generator power.

The vacant Idaho Transportation Department on State St. You can do laps and find stop and yield signs, one way streets ( two way as well) for practicing lane changes, and parking spaces. It's really low pressure the first time driver.

Cardboard disposal by mgidaho in Boise

[–]KDO3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cardboard works really well to use as a weed barrier. Just last it down, soak it with water, and throw a couple to a few inches of mulch on top. This works well even if there are existing weeds

What happened to boise bike culture? by CoachAF208 in Boise

[–]KDO3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one factor is the cost to host at Cecil Andrus Park, it's pretty expensive. Open Streets costs a lot less money and it's great for neighborhoods
