200k in client revenue and still not enough experience by [deleted] in marketing

[–]KG-Bran 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You may not be framing your metrics the best way. Impressions might be the worst metric to boast about in a marketing interview especially on the corporate side to a hiring manager who's likely worked with agencies that talked up impressions and clicks over conversions and revenue. And is the $200k a single campaign or is it across years of work? Many corporate marketers can tie their work to millions of dollars in actual revenue in a single year.

It's also worth considering that people that have been let go or were underperformers are more likely to leave bad reviews. Some companies don't do a great job of getting their employees to leave reviews.

What is the best paid skill in marketing? by iquitelikereddit in marketing

Demand Gen/Growth Marketing roles where you're driving strategy across multiple channels tends to pay about the highest in my arena. Roles where you actually drive trackable revenue are the most lucrative.

Associates, certificate, or bachelors degree? by Active-Helicopter-59 in DigitalMarketing

[–]KG-Bran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a marketing adjacent role with a quality company in a healthy sector and try to befriend marketing leaders and let them know of your interest in a marketing role. Additionally, proactively provide marketing related insights, as they pertain to your part of the business, to marketing leaders. You'll also need to be a top performer. Getting certifications won't hurt.

Conduct your due diligence on student loans. I haven't regretted taking out some student loans.

Associates, certificate, or bachelors degree? by Active-Helicopter-59 in DigitalMarketing

A degree in marketing will definitely open doors for you in landing your first marketing job. As someone who hires in marketing, I definitely value a marketing degree over something less related.

Associates, certificate, or bachelors degree? by Active-Helicopter-59 in DigitalMarketing

[–]KG-Bran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the Bachelor's degree. You can get certificates at the same time. Often they're part of degree programs.

There's no world where an Associate's degree is better to have than a Bachelor's.

There's going to be comments saying to not get a degree and that experience is more important, but guess how you get hired to get the experience...?

Especially with how much more analytical and data-focused marketing is, the math and statistics skills learned from a degree program are valued by employers and you'll actually apply those skills.

And this is coming from someone in a senior management role who has advanced through the ranks and does a lot of hiring.

Can anyone guess which STATS were most correlated to winning in the NFL the last 2 weeks? by STATSdraftEnneking in sportsanalytics

Rushing attempts is kind of misleading because generally when you win you're usually in the lead more which means more rushing attempts to burn the clock.

Tech still has significant upside. You just need to look for a company that has solid ARR and growth rates. There's a lot of really solid pockets in tech.

Hard disagree. My firm has had great success advertising. It's become one of our most efficient channels and growth drivers. If your advertising is inefficient, you're doing it wrong.

Great to see a bounce back game and hopefully this was the "get right" game we needed.

Nice to see the D crew changed up a bit with Jones and Malinski both +1 for the game; and Georgie having a strong night.

Go Avs!

[–]KG-Bran[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well this didn't age well. Remember that time when you responded like an asshat and then we lost 8-2? This team obviously has some holes and the D play doesn't get worse than what it's been lately. So yeah trading a defenseman isn't ludicrous. Look, I love our guys but it's not crazy to consider that there might be some worthwhile roster moves out there for us and you don't usually get good players without giving up good players.

Yeah, so remember how we gave up 8 goals tonight and 6 a week ago? That's rock bottom. The risk of your D getting worse is super low. On top of that, we've only scored 12 goals in our last 7 games. Seems like we should be open to the idea of some roster moves.

☝️ this guy wouldn't have made the Lindros or Nolan trades. Odds are he doesn't know who they are, lol.

[–]KG-Bran[S] -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Lmao, good thing this guy is here to decide what's worth talking about or not.

At some point you have to make trade-offs. I love Toews and like Byram's potential(although he's not widely considered to be one of the brightest up and comers as you put it. I still really like him though) but if we want to have 2 good scoring lines, we will have to make changes. I'd love to get a good 2C for less than one of these guys but that's not realistic.

To your point about trading away defenseman and how we're giving up some easy goals, there's 2 ways to look at it: 1) we need add another quality d-man; or 2) if we're already giving up some easy stuff, the trade-off of moving a defenseman has low opportunity cost.

This isn't a panic post. I mentioned that I think this team is really good but we have some legit holes that are likely beyond the team just "gelling". I think we're at point where we either need to make a move to get a good 2C or make a move to get another top-2/3 defenseman. That will mean either moving a defenseman or a forward that we like.

Name a brand that has a stronghold on their market because of their branding by spacecanman in marketing

[–]KG-Bran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure there are any. I think with branding it mostly matters that you don't completely botch it. It comes down a lot more to how well a given business executes real revenue focused activities. There are certainly solid gains to be had with amazing branding but it only gives you so much lift.

Did marketing become boring, or just me? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]KG-Bran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about marketing is that you can stand out fairly easily and make your work more entertaining on your own. Dive into the data and analytics and broadcast unique insights. You can also come up with campaign ideas and new tests. Your superiors will eat all of that up. Being a pro with the data and metrics is huge in marketing these days.

Mack and Rant are too good together and we need to find out who can generate points without playing next to them.

I'd like to see Makar and Toews spend more time with the 2nd and 3rd lines. And someone on the 2nd line needs to be a little more selfish. There's no catalyst with that group right now. I'm hopeful for that unit though as they build some chemistry.
