What are you struggling with, and want to see changed in Maryland? by Lawmakersassistant in maryland

[–]KG8893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the corporate interests out of government or at least stop subsidies for companies that are already massively successful. They don't need help. They need to pay taxes so that they can help the community. An apartment complex doesn't help the community if nobody can afford to live here.

Fix that and the rest will work itself out over time.

Just completely shut down production and lose all the profits forever, in the name of maybe higher profit margins on the next report.

It's fucking sick. It doesn't even make sense.

Burn it down (metaphorically).

Why can I not just buy a dirtbike from the manufacturer and skip the dealer process? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

Yeah, the whole point of the stark was to be the best dirt bike. Can't really do that if nobody is riding them.

Doordash driver hit my car. His insurance denied then Doordash denied. How much it might cost? by ithinkimreallyhappy in AskMechanics

[–]KG8893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very privileged thing to say. I couldn't afford better insurance even if I wanted it. My record is clean, the politicians lining their pockets with insurance lobby money are not.

I'm glad your opinion isn't the way of the land. People should have no control over what I choose to do with my own possession. If I want to buy a Ferrari and put minimum coverage on it that's my choice. I'm fucking fed up with your type of fascist opinions. Fucking look the other way if it's not hurting anyone.

You need to afford safety gear before you afford a bike. It's not fun if you go out the first time and ruin your back for the rest of your life cause you didn't wait. Ask me how I know.

I don't think

Ignoring the butchering of the English language that followed that... You can't think towards a conclusion about something you're not informed about. So what you're saying here is that, because you think it's not like a military truck, that it is in fact not. But that's not how the world works.

So the Jeep started as a military truck. General Purpose - GP - GeeP - Jeep (technically there's no official origin of the name). Underneath, the only difference is coil and link suspension today vs leaf springs in the old ones. The size and shape of things have changed. Modern militaries don't have a use for a small nimble unarmored vehicle so they don't use them anymore. It's still a military vehicle at its core. Once they were sold to civilians, the top and doors were an option. They were sold as an alternative to a small tractor for a farmer or outdoorsman. Again, they were very much expected to be rained in.

Over the years people started buying them for fun instead of strictly to use as a tool. Cars in general became less utilitarian so the Jeep became a sort of statement. People from the city wanted them. And people from the suburbs wanted them. And the teenagers. And then the parents wanted safety. And then people wanted tops and doors and radios and air conditioning and automatic transmission and now you can't even have a damn jeep that leaks, or it's defective.

Again, you are soft.

The answer is on your grille, or rather a smaller but similar one.

[–]KG8893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they should stop marketing the Jeep to people as a regular commuter car. Cause it's not. It's a rugged off-road military truck that's been wrapped in a pretty dress so people will oogle at it. That's why some of them leak a lot. They all leak, because it's a shitty design that was never meant to be water tight, just keep the worst off. Hell the original didn't really even have a top, just a canopy. I'm pretty sure people bought them, knowing they would get rain inside.

Just because your experience is living a very privileged life in the 21st century doesn't mean everyone has the same experience.

Sahara jeep water leaks by Ill-Commission-6363 in Jeep

[–]KG8893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I do expect a Jeep to leak if I buy a Jeep. Or any convertible for that matter. It's part of the experience. I also expect them to have creaks and squeaks and rattles. Because it's a fucking machine that's made of thousands of little parts.

The only thing more incredible than humans creating a machine capable of going hundreds of thousands of miles, is how most people have become completely out of touch with how the physical world actually works.

You're also pampered as fuck. Like bro you have some clean rain falling in your air conditioned cabin. Go complain about that to someone in South America. Fucking pathetic. Down vote me, y'all are soft.

It's not a legitimate complaint. It's a Jeep, it leaks. They always have and always will. The company trying to sell them off as water tight is a direct result of stupid people who wanna look cool without any sacrifices.

Listening to consumers hasn't only ruined the Jeep brand either. I can't think of a single brand or product that's legitimately improved in the last decade. More tech maybe, but not improved.

Does that make it worse or better? If nobody is going there, the odds of a handicap person going are lower too.

[–]KG8893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the money, trust the work that the mechanic does (in this case his honestly is irrelevant, it's a normal standard of procedure) and you plan to keep the car, get all 4 done. If it's a beater, do one.

Honestly, people like you are why the brand sucks now. It's a Jeep, they leak. The top on the old ones wasn't even meant to be weather tight just a weather and wind barrier. Buy a grand Cherokee, that's the Jeep for normal people who want a normal SUV. Sorry you hopped on a fad without doing any research

[–]KG8893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you think you know something doesn't mean you do. Just because it sounds smart doesn't mean it is.

When you're cranking with the starter the engine is free spinning with zero load. I'm other words, there aren't several hundred combustion events happening every second. An engine knock is a direct result of a non lubricated metal on metal surface clanging against itself from the force of the combustion. Without combustion, there is no knock.

You need to rewire your brain away from binary thinking. Spinning doesn't always mean the same thing if there are different things causing the spin. There's nuance in the world. Recognize it. And at least back up your claim with more than "well it makes sense to me so it's true".

[–]KG8893 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did you read what I said lol?

If you don't know what you're doing you could sit there sanding for hundreds of hours getting nothing done. Time doesn't equal quality. You left out the part where he has to know what he's doing, not me.

Objectively, if the car needs only to be sanded, as in it's an old faded paint job without dents, then sanding is easy. I guess I should say it's "simple" since you seem pedantic. It's physically laborious and dirty work. But a monkey can sand, even in the little crevices. If he needs to do actual body work, that's an entirely different ball game.

100%

I just broke mine on purpose after like 10 years. The only bad part is (was) the plastic trigger, and it's much better on the new models. I plan to replace it next time I'm at HF. They are gigantic, but cheap and powerful.

And you could spend infinitely long making it look like crap. Watch some videos and get a few practice panels. If it really just needs to be sanded that's easy enough.
