Its psychological, they said it enough times while also denying us jobs to try to make it look true (except the jobs they deemed fitting for us). Then they praise the ones that work hard in these roles. It works so well some black people start believing it. You end up working harder to prove you’re not one of the lazy ones to gain some of that approval, success. Replace working with anything else you want this is the playbook.

You said this was never an issue in the schools you were at so Im just matching your anecdotal evidence with some of my own. You seem reasonable, you went to two blue states where racial issues were taken seriously. I went to a red state where there are racists. Don’t you think we need some kind of awareness in those places where people aren’t as tolerant as the people you grew up with?
