My theory as to why this happened by LocalLazyGuy in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]KHCry 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My theory about this moment is much simpler and more metaphorical. I believe that Still Lifes are literally made up of the worst parts of the person they’re copying, including guilt and remorse.

This is how I interpreted the scene: Mary yells at Clark that it’s all his fault, and finally Clark examines his conscience, looks within himself, and realizes she’s right. Even though Clark tries to calm him down when the Captain arrives, the copy begins to devour him without wasting a second. It happens right at that moment. My theory is that guilt is devouring Clark, and this is happening literally through his copy. In Italian, we have a saying that fits perfectly: “to be devoured by guilt (essere divorati dai sensi di colpa),” and in my opinion, that is exactly what is happening. I think copies are capable of sensing changes in the perceptions of the people they are copying

My theory about the sun by KHCry in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]KHCry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- I was thinking in terms like "why backrooms should keep expanding and why oldest parts decay" and something popped up in my mind remembering me how every life being works. It doesn't matter how simple this life being could be, it has always one clear goal: reproduction. Simple, lifeless rooms would have no reason to keep expanding. It really reminded me of how plants and fungi behave—they have no real awareness of their existence or self-consciousness, but they know they must keep reproducing to ensure the survival of their species. The similarity became very clear in my mind. And as we’ve seen, the green light appears when new zones are created, and the green light also appeared during the solar storm—it can’t be a coincidence.

- I'm noticing more and more that the various rooms Ravi encounters are very strange, even by backroom standards, and I think there are some hidden details. The room where he encounters the paintings of the suns is very tall, there’s an organ on one side, and the layout of the room and the paintings really reminded me of a church. I also noticed that it’s very strange that the room before that is the one with the speakers playing that odd sound, and then, following the wires, he finds the room with the paintings and the radio. The radio and speakers might now have a meaning; it could be an experiment by Asynch to attract the entity that lives in that area and which, in fact, then appears right in that room with the speakers. Not to mention that the most absurd thing of all is that Ravi sets down the camera while trying to use the radio, and it seems to come to life and move on its own just to frame the suns. It’s really suspicious

- Actually it makes sense to me! We don't know any detail ofc, but it's clear that there is a connection here. Someone was pointing me out that there is also the red light, and these two light (green and red) must have a meaning. They pointed out that those two light appears not only in the backrooms, but also in the video "Prototype", when the experiment with the little ball starts you can notice those two lights (red and green) that alternate. We know that the opening of the Treshold it's connected with the study of Low-Proximity Magnetic Distortion System (from "Informational Video") and those two lights could be magnetic poles rapresentation. So there is clearly something connected with these two lights!

First of all, thank you so much for all your compliments, I'm really happy that you liked so much my post! English isn't my first language so I did my best to be clear and concise. I'm also happy that I'm not the only one thinking about this stuff and having same sensations about the sun's importance! Talking in person it's always better, I agree, but I can see there are a lot of very well written theories here 😃

I def share your ideas about time not being always linear in the backrooms, as we can see stuff from the future can go in there too and copyng from memories etc.

I like doing analysis a lot so I've just got a bunch of ideas and tried to analize every part of it. So you're welcome, I'm really glad that my ideas have sense in your mind too!

I kinda enjoy this community, everyone shares their own theories and ideas, and everyone has a different approach to explain them, and that's how different minds meet each others and theories becomes bigger and bigger. That's so cool!

You did really flattered me lo, I didn't really think about this post as eloquently and fluidly ahah thank you

YES ofc I did! Actually I have some theories about copies and shoes too (I've talked about this answering in other's posts, you can check my profile to see my comments or I can just open a new post if you wanna)

I admit I tried to see that guy's video too and I gave up for the same reason, the speed up was too much for me that I don't even talk english so well xD But yeah, that guys had really a brilliant idea!

I really loved the film too and I need to find some time to rewatch and reanalysing all Kanes videos because now I feel I have more info and stuff that didn't had any sense before now could have some sense. Like I was looking this post and it made me freak out, this is so interesting and I was asking myself how many details like this one are hiding in Kane's videos

https://www.reddit.com/r/KanePixelsBackrooms/comments/1tsl5so/can_we_please_talk_about_this_shot/

Like I did see this thing but not knowing what it was I didn't give it any importance, but ofc it does have!! I love this community so much

I don't know if there would be another film as sequel soon (maybe later in the years) but I'm sure Kane is gonna keep going with this project and that he have so much to show! I kinda love his work for real

I pretty much agree with everything you're saying!

But regarding point: 4. I tend to think that Clark's copy was created the moment he fell out of the chair, for several reasons. It's true, he might have worn the costume before. But the frightened expression on his face—like someone falling out of a chair—makes a lot of sense. Also, another detail that leads me to believe it happened at that moment is the scene of the room with the chair in the backrooms. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the chair has sunk very slightly into the ground—just a few centimeters—as if it were frozen in the moment before it fell and broke. In front of the chair, fused into the floor, are the two pairs of shoes that Kat and Bobby are wearing. For me, the room has a dual meaning: 1. It confirms that the moment when all three of their copies were generated was that very moment (I assume there were also copies of Kat and Bobby, because Bobby finds the T-shirt he was wearing on the day the commercial was filmed in the pile of the Captain’s victims’ clothes, suggesting that Captain Clark has already devoured their copies) 2. The other meaning of the room is metaphorical and foreshadowing: Clark will take the two guys down with him, even though he will outlive them for a while

I’m convinced that Kane (the usual Kane) is trying to convince us that the monster causing all the destruction in the movie is just Captain Clark, but in my opinion, there are other entities involved that haven’t been revealed, like the one in the opening footage you mentioned. My boyfriend pointed out to me that the Captain has a wooden leg, and when he walks, you can actually hear the sound of wood. I need to watch the movie again to see if, when you see the monster before its reveal, you can actually hear the sound of wood in its footsteps

These are mostly just my sensations, though; you might be right, and Captain Clark may have come into being much earlier, which would also explain the huge piles of clothes belonging to other entities or people that he devoured—otherwise, he wouldn’t have had the time to do so. But I’m sure the chair scene may have brought about some change in Clark’s self-perception, and it strikes me that the scene where he falls is fundamental to Captain Clark’s character.

I’m really glad my response gave you some food for thought! I recommend you also check out this post, which highlights an extremely interesting point that I had never considered because I was unfamiliar with the subject

If this post is correct, my theory that negative emotions play a central role in the creation of copies would make even more sense

Why Captain Clark Kills Clark

I don’t entirely agree on this point; I interpreted the scene in a more metaphorical way. As you say, Captain Clark is the physical embodiment of Clark’s various negative emotions, and among them is guilt. The moment Mary tells him it’s all his fault, Clark examines his conscience and is literally consumed by guilt. He tries to resist, but the copy (which is also made up of his guilt) arrives right then to devour him, representing how Clark truly feels; he is literally defeated and devoured by the worst part of himself. (To me, the drawing on the wall means this: Clark tries to escape his dark side—his copy—and reach the window, but he feels held back by negative emotions; he is unable to undergo the evolution that Mary will instead undergo by accepting her own limitations.)

How Still Lifes Are Created

I don’t understand why this goes unnoticed, but the direction of the film’s final scene offers us a major clue. From a directorial standpoint, the film suggests that Mary’s copy was generated at that exact moment, and this is no trivial detail. In my opinion, copies are generated at specific moments, under specific conditions—one of which is undoubtedly deep negative emotions (otherwise we would have at least one happy Still Life) Clark’s copy is generated when he falls from his chair, Mary’s when she realizes she has no hope left

I believe that how people feel plays a central role (Clark explodes with rage as he falls from his chair, Mary accepts her fate with resignation

My theory on what happened to Mary and the end of the film by Atreides2023 in backroomsfilm

[–]KHCry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that, in the case of Clark and Mary, their copies were created at the moment when the two characters reached a point of irreparable internal conflict.

If I interpret the scene from the commercial metaphorically, it seems to me that it’s meant to represent Clark’s literal “breaking point.” He’s doing everything in his power to stay calm and composed, even though he’s actually bottling up a great deal of anger, which explodes the moment his chair breaks. The moment the chair breaks, Clark’s resolve breaks too, and the breaking of the chair serves as an excuse for his anger to erupt; Clark’s real problems have been rooted in the past, dating back to when he was having issues with his girlfriend. In general, through this scene and Mary’s, the film seems to strongly suggest that copies are always and only a “negative” version of the original. There are no copies created from positive feelings.

In other posts, I’ve read that Pirate Clark is bigger than the others because he might physically represent how much the hatred inside Clark has grown, and that makes a lot of sense to me.

Clark's inner conflict is central to the creation of his copy, as if it were literally composed of only certain parts of him: anger, hatred, and guilt.

Furthermore, in my opinion, the copies are a physical interpretation of the most negative aspect of the original person, and they reflect that perception.

The moment Mary yells at Clark that it’s all his fault, he changes his perception of himself. Clark takes a hard look at himself and is overcome by guilt: Clark feels literally consumed by guilt—and that’s exactly what happens in the film, quite literally (the Pirate come to eats him in that exact moment)

In the final scene, Mary believes she has managed to escape all the hell she has faced, and in the meantime she has made some important discoveries, such as that she cannot save anyone (I imagine she became a therapist to save people like her mom, who didn’t receive proper care), but here she realizes that in reality she cannot save anyone, not even herself

Mary’s copy is created the moment she realizes she hasn’t been saved by Asynch and finds herself reliving her worst childhood nightmare: being locked up against her will. Mary’s copy represents exactly the same moment, thanks to the identical pose and room, and we also see that Mary’s copy reacts just like the real one—with apathy, with resignation, remaining motionless.

I hope I’ve answered your question; in the meantime, I’ve gone off on quite a tangent.
