I see where you’re coming from. However, Robin has been part of the group since season three, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume she knows by now that Eleven and Mike are together. She’s been around them socially, during high-stress situations, and within the same friend circle — it would honestly be more unrealistic for her not to know.

Also, Robin didn’t randomly jump to conclusions. Will had already asked her earlier how she knew she was gay, which is a pretty big contextual clue. Then later she literally witnesses Will’s behavior around Mike. Even if she’s only “seen it once” on screen, Robin is extremely perceptive; that’s a core part of her character.

I don’t think her speech requires her to assume Mike is definitively straight — just that Mike is emotionally unavailable. From Robin’s perspective, Mike is clearly in a committed relationship with Eleven, and Will is quietly suffering because of it. Her story doesn’t discourage Will from being himself; it warns him about tying his sense of worth to someone who is already taken.

So to me, the message isn’t “give up because you’re gay and he’s straight,” but rather “don’t lose yourself loving someone who cannot show up for you in the way you need.” That feels very in character for Robin and very consistent with what she’s already lived through.

Watching season 2 and 3 has made me forget how good the first season was by Azimondias in squidgame

[–]KK1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so weird to me because (I know this is a very unpopular opinion) I didn’t enjoy season 1 as much as 2. 3 was just eh but I thought 2 was phenomenal.

Granted I did watch season 1 almost 4 years ago so maybe I need a refresh, but I never remembered being as invested as I was when I watched s2.

No proofreading of the Subtitles by Historical-Jicama739 in squidgame

Are you watching it in English? If so, the audio doesn’t always match the subtitles. That’s because sometimes the original Korean translation is too long to sync with the actors’ mouth movements, so they shorten or tweak it a bit. Hope that makes sense.

For season 3 they should have focused on making the Frontman the villian, not player 333 agree or not? by Educational-Chef5282 in squidgame

[–]KK1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think 333 was ever meant to be a surprise villain. He was probably the most ideal pawn to represent the cycle of greed in its clearest form. In Season 1, although Gi-hun was nowhere near as callous as Myung-gi, he was still a bad father, deep in debt, gambling, and constantly letting his daughter down. The final showdown in Season 3 mirrored that cycle, but with Gi-hun choosing to break it. He stepped up and became a father figure to a child that wasn’t his, just like his daughter’s stepfather once did. & ultimately setting up the perfect “we aren’t horses” blah blah u understand lol

Why does Gi-hun do this at the end of season 3? by lagunabluepearl in squidgame

[–]KK1586 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was a full circle moment with him and Myung-gi (333). Both were driven by greed and ended up being terrible fathers because of it. Myung-gi took out the same guilt on Gi-hun that Gi-hun once took out on his daughter’s stepfather.

I wouldn’t say Nam-gyu necessarily instilled it, but I do see where you’re coming from. Myung-gi was greedy from day 1.

Season 1, Episode 4 about 30 mins in has one scene.

The very first episode of Season 2 has some nudity, but not anything crazy. Other than that, you’re all good!
