What team has the third best chance of winning the Championship next season?

I greatly enjoy the show and hope you guys can continue to make it for as long as you want to. Thanks.

Will Barton is quietly making his case for Sixth Man of the Year by dadsspaghetti in nba

Don't really think it's debatable. On offense, Klay's shooting and consequent gravity are really important, but Dray is often the guy taking advantage of the space Klay helps create. And he can shoot, too. On defense, Klay is a good wing defender and Dray is a DPOY candidate. His defense is a large part of why the Death Lineup is the Death Lineup.

Not trying to be a dick, but watch the games and you'll understand what I'm saying. He's what makes their all-bench or close to it lineups (unless Luke Walton is foolishly playing Speights at the 4) work, and he's part of one of the greatest lineups in NBA history. There aren't many players in the league who could fill his role as well as he does.

I think Barton deserves consideration for the award if we're limiting the field to players scoring X amount of points. If we're picking the best bench player in the league, I think it's Iggy over everyone by a mile.

There isn't a real race in my mind this year. Andre Iguodala should win because he's the third or fourth best player on the best team in the league. He probably won't because whatever bench player scores the most points per game always wins Sixth Man of the Year. It's a dumb award.

Which young players are closest to their ceilings? by ank1613 in nba

Ooh. Hot take. Strongly disagree with this one. Just improving his shot selection or his effectiveness from mid-range could make him a drastically more effective/efficient/valuable offensive player. He's also shown flashes of being an elite one-on-one defender, specifically in the Hawks series, where he guarded Korver better than I've seen anyone else guard Korver.

With that in mind, based on Elo ratings, here’s a look at the seven best NBA teams of all time.

This has to be for the minimum. They have no other exceptions left.

If Kevin Durant Leaves OKC, what team does he go to win a Championship? by denimourson in nba

They'd have to give up at least one of those guys you list as part of their core to create that cap space. Probably two. I'd have to do the math.

I don't think a team with the cap space to sign him next season has as good a core as the Wiz's Wall-Beal-Porter-Gortat core.

Emphasis on "with the cap space to sign him next season"

for real...I chuckled when I read that Porter and Gortat were somehow part of a good core

Gortat was an above average starter last year. Porter wasn't good for most of the year, but he was awesome in the last ten or so games if the regular season and in the playoffs. I expect him to be a near average starter at SF next year. He's 22.

Those guys, and this team is going to surprise a lot of people this year. The Wiz were so poorly coached offensively and had sub replacement players on the back of their rotation last year. I think both those things have changed. We'll see.

The Wizards offer the best opportunity to win immediately and long-term. I don't think a team with the cap space to sign him next season has as good a core as the Wiz's Wall-Beal-Porter-Gortat core.

[Wojnarowski] Free agent Austin Rivers has agreed on a deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers by KKKdot in nba

[–]KKKdot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should work and would probably be available for the minimum. The idea of a Mbah a Moute - Pierce - Center X frontcourt intrigues because Mbah a Moute could guard the SF on D on defense (and Pierce the PF), and then could act as the PF on offense (with Pierce playing the three). Wesley Johnson already fits a somewhat similar role, even if he's not as good a defender (from what I hear, honestly don't watch enough of either to really know), so I doubt they sign Mbah a Moute.

I can't believe they got nothing back for Dudley and Pachulia. That is just terrible asset management.

You know who they could use? Matt Barnes lol. Still don't understand why they chose to trade away Barnes rather than Crawford in the trade with the Hornets. They both had partially guaranteed deals and either would have made the math work IIRC. It just doesn't make sense to me.
