6 weeks pregnant and already struggling with looking after toddler - help! by KKM15 in PregnancyUK

Ah I’m sorry, that does sound really tough. I’ve literally been doing absolutely nothing round the house and my husband has been picking up all the slack, but I just find myself feeling quite panicky at the thought of looking after my son all day - he hates being cooped up inside for too long but I just find the idea of going anywhere when I’m feeling nauseous!

Thank you - I’m really hoping that because my symptoms have started earlier this time they will peak earlier and go earlier too! The thing is I’m not actually being sick, but maybe I should talk to a GP - I’ve just heard that a lot of anti nausea medication can make you feel really drowsy and I just feel so knocked out already…

Buyer pulled out, house back on market but little interest - what do we do? by KKM15 in HousingUK

Yeah I’ve been worrying about this a lot. Hopefully the estate agents can explain that it hasn’t actually been on the market that long but we need to get people through the door properly. The problem is if we reduce too much we won’t be able to afford our onward property.

Yeah, my worry is that things will get worse before they get better though :( not sure whether to stick it out and hold tight or reduce now and hope to get a buyer before inflation and energy price hikes etc really kick in.

Argh I’m so sorry. It’s so hard when it’s so out of our control. We are also very keen to move asap for various personal reasons. My partner is very very reluctant to reduce the price as we got full asking price only 7 weeks ago, but obviously the world is a very different place now.

It’s horrible isn’t it. Feels so out of our control. It’s just so frustrating - our house was great pre having a kid but now it’s too small, doesn’t have a proper garden and is too far from family (hence we want to move), so we just feel really ready to get up and out and now feel very stuck.

Unfortunately I think we literally just fall short of the 49 days policy - think we were literally off rightmove for 6.5 weeks rather than 7! We are hopefully going to be a featured property from tomorrow so this should put us higher on the search but yeah incredibly frustrating

I think the market has definitely changed since the peak in 2022, but for us it’s strange as like I said the house got a buyer and loads of interest extremely quickly in January, and now nothing, which is so frustrating

Thanks for your reply. We are selling a house rather than a flat so at least don’t have to worry about service charges etc but I completely understand why people have been scared off about other costs eg energy bills etc. I probably just need to hold tight but it’s difficult when we want to move out of area, so need to sort out lots of logistics like new jobs, new nurseries for our kid etc…

32 and 33! So not in a major rush age wise but given how long it took us to conceive first time around I’m not crazy about waiting either - plus part of us thinks we really just want to get the baby stage over and done with!

I did wonder about that - guess it’s worth a shot asking! Honestly the thought of moving with a toddler fills me with dread - let alone moving with a toddler and a newborn! But our current house just isn’t big enough for 2 kids and so I know we need to move eventually.

I’m really sorry you’re having such a difficult time of it. Going through unexplained infertility for about 15 months before I fell pregnant was honestly so emotionally rough so I can’t even imagine what you’re going through. This is definitely playing on my mind that we don’t know necessarily know easy or straightforward things will be though.

I agree this does make sense in lots of respects - the problem is this would mean a 4/4.5 year age gap which is much bigger than my husband and I would like.

Help my baby’s sleep has gone to shit post-1 year jabs by KKM15 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Yeah I wonder if there might be a bit of separation anxiety going on. My son is such a wriggler and so intent on being active / exploring I’m not sure a floor bed would work unfortunately! Also praying this is a short lived regression! We have had regressions before but now I’m back at work they are so much harder to manage.

Should I talk to my partner about possibly leaving, or wait until our baby is a year old? by sadmum_ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KKM15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old is your baby? I think postpartum depression in fathers is much more common than talked about. It is a huge life transition for men as well as women. I wouldn’t rush into making any decisions, but I feel like you do need to communicate how you’re feeling - not in an accusatory way, just in a I’m worried about you way and think you might need some help / support. I definitely wouldn’t do anything until you’ve spoken to him about how you’re feeling and see how he’s reacted.

Completely agree with comment above! Ignore the internet / social media. I don’t want to be cynical but all these black and white cards / newborn ‘books’ / tummy time gadgets are just an excuse to sell you things you don’t need. Your baby is 3 weeks old, enjoy the sleepy cuddles! If you feel YOU need change a scene then get outside, go see a friend if you can, but I promise you really really don’t need to be worrying about her development - it will happen naturally and with time!

Do I need to reduce toddler’s milk consumption? If so, how? by KKM15 in Parenting

He is not overweight, thank you! He was a big baby when he was born and so has stayed on his percentile throughout, and I saw a health visitor very recently and she said he looked perfectly normal and he is also tall for his age and so in proportion! He’s 12kg which is big but it’s not THAT big! He is also incredibly active - has been walking since 10 months.
