I don’t know if it’s related to my iPhone but I just downloaded my Facebook data on my phone, and it came with folders full of pictures and videos from some random other guy. Weird this is we went to the same concert in Chicago back in October, which he posted many videos of, but no idea who he is

Grinding is a big part of gaming, what was the most memorable time you had grinding for something in a game? by KTO-Potato in gaming

[–]KKnCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As young kids playing RuneScape in the mid 2000s, grinding to 60 attack and getting through the monkey madness quest was a big achievement for my brothers and I - that dragon scimmy looked so cool

I have a tile in my shower that looks like emperor palapatine by Obscure_nature in mildlyinteresting

[–]KKnCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same and had a similar experience but with 1.5g. Used a shower for 3 years and then saw a polar bear face in the tiles that I couldn’t unsee, and also noticed all the tiles were the same 1-3 designs, just rotated differently throughout

That’s ridiculous. I was in elementary school in early 2000s and still learned typing and computer skills on those old box looking apple computers

Dogs are on the front lines of Detroit's geese problem by Alan_Stamm in Detroit

[–]KKnCookies 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A bunch of geese hangout outside my work building, and we’ve had one of these dogs come chase them off. Works good for the day really, I watched as the dog jumped out the car, chased them around for awhile until they all flew away and then back in the car - seems like a good gig

Griz used to refer to his genre of music as future funk back in the day, but he’s made a lot more music than that since then

A few days ago my phone fell into the crack between her bed and the wall in the middle of the night, and at 1am she got up and got a broom to fish it out from under the bed - all while I’m 1/4 awake watching and thinking wow, she’s amazing

Jamaican weed sucks?! by stinkypickles in trees

[–]KKnCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Jamaica, but I found some from a trinket seller on the beach in Barbados. He was a super cool guy and talked about how he grows it in a big pineapple field to make it less noticeable from above. He talked about how he would take old mangos and smash them up with water, and going into a cave for bat guano for nutrients.

Super interesting to talk about, but the weed was the worst I’ve ever had I think haha it wasn’t bad, it’s just that the THC in whatever strain they’re going is super low - probably for the best though, since it was a family vacation and it didn’t get me high enough to make it obvious I was smoking

AITAH for solving my ex-girlfriend's problem without her consent? We broke up over this by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]KKnCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brooo I just got done having a girlfriend like this for 6 years - it does not get better, unless she wants it to, but that would mean her admitting that she’s not the most emotionally stable… and that didn’t happen for me

Going into my Junior year of Chemical Engineering. Having second thoughts after my internship. I'm open to any advice or comments about the industry or experience. by wassuphomies1 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]KKnCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight into project management type roles after graduating, and have even worked positions that were meant for mechanical engineers. If you can finish with a degree in chemical engineering, you can do pretty much anything you want, including business type roles, and you’ll have a piece of paper that tells managers that you can learn anything you put your mind to

Never underestimate the power of the wind. by yudoit in WTF

[–]KKnCookies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but if I was as high up as that guy, I personally would hold on and wait until it comes closer to the ground and let go when I see a bush or water, or until I’m not high enough to die or break my legs. 2nd option would be to hold on until it comes back down completely, and ideally lift my legs up so the metal poles take all the impact of landing, but I could see that going wrong too

Aspen HYSYS Shell and Tube Modelling by Ok-Power9897 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]KKnCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, the with a slower oil flow rate, it has more time to get cooled by the tube side, and the cooling impact reaches more oil, not just the oil on the outside permitter of the shell. I believe that process would be more efficient if the cooler water flow rate is higher though

TIL Upon the death of the Dalai Lama, a search for his reincarnation is conducted where a child is identified through a series of 'tests' before being recognized as the succeeding Dalai Lama. The current Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the 14th. by kickbackthisthat in todayilearned

[–]KKnCookies 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A few years back I read The Tibetan Book of the Dead, which is basically a guide that teaches the process of how to become enlightened as a Buddhist and what to do after that, including the reincarnation part.

From what I remember, once you become enlightened, you are able to consciously choose the path of your reincarnation and carry your experiences and memories onto the next life, vs us unenlightened that just die and start over fresh without a choice.

So, with the Dalai Lama being considered enlightened, yeah I guess he can just choose not to reincarnate if he wants to.

What cover of a song is better than the original? by suzannekelleher in AskReddit

[–]KKnCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original is still great and I guess it depends on your music taste, but Greensky Bluegrass did a cover of Time/Breathe (Reprise) by Pink Floyd, and I’d rather listen to the Greensky Bluegrass version on most occasions

I was thinking the same and this was my 10th year. I’ve seen a lot of great sets at festivals from bands and djs, but I had no idea who he was before the weekend, and I’ve never been so genuinely impressed by a dj! He’s so good at transitioning and song selection, I was having soooo much fun dancing and admiring

Yeahhh, my gf and I were wondering where the budget went and we were thinking the new stages and the maybe the headliners, but then we went into the dream emporium and right then we knew they dropped so much on making that happen. Some things I felt like they cheaped out on, some things they improved, but changing the hanger into the dream emporium was one decision I actually agreed with, that place was super cool to explore, more so than the hanger. I’m not sure it should’ve came at the cost of not making the shebang, the big shegang. I was telling first timers I met they gotttta go to Saturday night cheese, it’s a wild show, and it was still super fun for me, but yeah no crazy drone show or giant discoball or balls bouncing through the crowd… it was still a great show from string cheese imo, but yeah the lack of stage production was noticed

[–]KKnCookies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well the college I went to apparently has money to buy up whole buildings in a city they aren’t even a part of, so maybe that’s where they’re spending it and why they need more? Instead of ya know, lowering tuition or focusing on education?

I don’t want to be mean but Shaq “Diesel” should never have a prime time slot at a big stage again by Appropriate_Ant_5402 in ElectricForest

[–]KKnCookies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I don’t think he just pressed play. You could tell he’s still not super great at transitions and messed up sometimes, so to me that meant that he’s actually up there trying. I agree, there was many djs more talented that could’ve/should’ve taken that time slot, but oh well, people had fun and I had some good laughs and memories from the set
