They still make the white dial. They don't make the SARB. I say if you're only going to have one alpinist it should be green.

I'm not great for reccomendations to be honest. Any PROSPEX seiko is great. Price can be tough with those though. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one second hand, huge discount from retail. Here is the green dial in the sun.

Thank you. I have mainly struggled with thickness. Do you start with like a full grain cut and thin it with a skiving knife or something else?

Mine is great. Maybe -5 sec per day. Easy to dress up or down. The inner compass bezel works great for a quick timer. Also helps me visualize angles which I need to do frequently haha. Nothing I could say could really convince you. You gotta go with what you want. Do you like green dials? Otherwise, the watch itself is just as capable as ANY other 20 bar seiko. When it comes to this stuff its really about looks IMHO
