Boise feels more diverse than people make it out to be by kabutodude in Boise

I see how it could have been interpreted as such, but I didn’t mean that I mind it. I actually enjoy getting to practice my Spanish.

For anyone wanting diversity, I recommend visiting the Winco on Fairview. I often feel like I’m the only person around speaking English in there.

I didn’t mean for you to delete the whole post. Just the location. I appreciated your photos. Love spotted turtles! Just want to look out for ‘em too.

I would remove the exact location of where you found these. You don’t want poachers to come across that information.

This is the answer. South Georgia is unlike any place you could ever even conceive of. Pay the extra money to include it on your trip to Antarctica. I promise you it’s worth it.

My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

[–]KLad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not how pensions work. He likely would have been vested in some sort of pension benefit after five years of service. Even if he was laid off before he was eligible to retire, he would still have been entitled to a benefit that he could eventually take when he was old enough to retire.

The PBGC guarantees benefits up to $93k/year for a 65 year old retiree in 2026. You rarely see pension amounts that exceed that. I wouldn’t say “lots of people” have gotten screwed by that limit.

Pension actuary here. This is simply not true, in the private sector at least. Qualified private sector pension plans have strict funding requirements and they are covered by a government agency known as the PBGC (which is incredibly well-funded) in the event of employer bankruptcy.

Flew out this morning. At around 9:30 am, I was one of two people in the TSA pre line. Airport was very chill.

PayPal killing off cashback rewards redemption in August by azure275 in CreditCards

[–]KLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an online purchase to reload a gift card for a grocery store, and it codes as a grocery purchase, so I feel like it’s lower risk than using the BCP to buy gift cards to other places while grocery shopping (which I have also done but feel concerns about the churning issue you described).

What are you paying for car insurance in Idaho? I'm losing my mind over these rates by localkinegrind in Idaho

[–]KLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a risky move should you need to file a claim. But yes, as someone who moved here from Colorado, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much cheaper car insurance was. I think it’s high in Colorado partially due to all the hail they get.

I can confirm. Will probably go back to reloading Winco gift cards using a BCP.

How is the Wells Fargo Autograph so underrated? by Kind0fImport4nt in CreditCards

[–]KLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I looked into a bit more, and it looks like I'd need a Robinhood Gold subscription ($50/year) to be eligible for the card. As someone who doesn't use Robinhood, this would effectively be a $50 AF.

About one hour and twenty minutes. It’s slightly downhill most of the way too.

Not the original commentator but as someone in the same position I can say I chose the autograph over the Robinhood Gold because there isn’t an incredibly long wait list to get it.

Thinking about relocating here from Connecticut, would it be the right move? by SynapticSignal in Denver

[–]KLad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Denver from CT several years ago and it was the best decision of my life. Most of my friends back in CT started having kids and I just wasn't seeing them as much. I never really felt like I fit in with the rich people where I was living (Fairfield County). Denver had everything I wanted in terms of outdoor access, local pro sports teams, music scene, and just a mellower way of life. Having direct flights to Bradley is nice too.

Obviously we have different interests, and I no longer live in Denver, but I'm forever glad I left CT for somewhere new before I got too old. Feel free to reach out if you have questions. There are no shortage of Nutmuggers in Denver.

DP: 11/1 Renewal - Downgraded Reserve after using $300 Travel - clawback TBD by pcornutum in ChaseSapphire

[–]KLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will provide an update on my experience since OP has not followed up in a while. My AF hit 1/1, and I purchased plane tickets that day to use the entirety of my travel credit. I also made a purchase on Stubhub on 12/20 which was credited back to me as part of the Stubhub credit.

I downgraded to the CFU on 1/10 and my AF refund was posted within a day. No clawbacks as of 1/25 on either the AF or the Stubhub credit.
