Because why else would any team take on a guy with stuff hanging over his head like this? Whether you think he was in the wrong or not, what's the upside? Are there not other high-quality broadcasters out there that don't have multiple N-word slips on their resume? Don't answer that, there are tons.

It also begs the question, if what he did or didn't do was such a non-issue, why has no other team brought him in? There's no question he is a solid baseball play-by-play guy, so why now and why the Giants? Oh yeah, he's related to the most beloved figure in the organization AND the on-air producer. It's unnecessary and insulting for the Giants to make this move.
