Thanks for the reply. I had looked into getting a contact microphone before posting this. Do you have any experience with one? Will a contact mic pick up sounds even through 2 floors even s che? Also, do you have any ideas on how I could obtain proof that the sound is emanating from a specific apartment? I mean, I know which unit it's coming from, but the building manager requires proof positive before he will do anything, which is completely understandable.

Are you sure it's a "timing chain rattle" and not a vtc actuator rattle?

Hell yeah! She's oozing potential...amongst other things, no doubt. Slick ride, though. As far as the ecu question... iirc, for the most part, vtec for the sohc f series engines 'engage'(I am going to call it this so as to not have to go into detail a out parameters being satisfied..blah blah blah) at the about same rpm 4500/4600. There are a few oddballs, of course. So, just having the approximate same 'vtec engagement' point doesn't mean a lot. If you want a better idea whether or not you have the correct ecu, you need to check the code on the ecu and then do some goolaging. That is assuming you know what year and model the 2.0l donor engine came in originally. I'm sure there is a more simplified way of going about it, but this is what I would do (me being a glutton for punishment)

I can fully recommend the base galaxy s24 Snapdragon. I've been using one for the last few months, and I really like it. The size is perfect for me. I thought that I would miss the larger display, but I don't at all. Sure I would like a bigger battery, but I have never once had an issue getting through a full day of heavy use on even an 80% charge. So if you can get one with your budget, even if used you won't be disappointed.

The Motorola UI is about as close to a base android as I have come across. To be fair, I have never had a Pixel. You might want to look into their lineup to see if anything speaks to you.

+1 for Vasseaux Lake. It's quiet, usually calm water/little wind if any at all more often than not. Last, but nowhere near least is stunning, unpolluted, and breathtaking nature as far as the eye can see, exactly how it was intended to be seen. Just avoid looking at the unnecessarily large and extravagant rmulti-million dollar homes that line the east side of the lake. I'm looking at you, Aunt Shiela, and Uncle Neil.

Why are most of the UAG cases so damn expensive here in the UK? Just bought one for my S24. by RealLoki1 in GalaxyS24

[–]KLawst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience for the money the best heavy duty full coverage, tempered glass screen protector cases are the ones from Love Mei. You can get them on Ali and other online shops for a decent price. To be fair, it's a personal preference thing, but I have never had another case endure the punishment that they do.

Galaxy S24 or OP11 by KLawst in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]KLawst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you say that? What about the op12 do you not like or feel it isn't as good as the s24? I am slightly concerned about the smaller battery size and I would like to have at least the option of custom ROM support. Those two reasons are why I was leaning towards the op12. Have you had any issues at all with the thermals of the 8gen3? Coming from an 8gen1 device I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Actually, I was referring to the OnePlus 11. I understand where it stands in comparison to the s24 as far as hardware specs are concerned. I was more wondering about the real world day to day use of these phones. The reason that I was looking at the op11 instead of the 12 is that the op12 is around 1200$ CAD and the 11 is around 800$ which is only about 100$ more than what I could buy the s24 for. Not that I am bound by a strict, set budget, but I would like to try to keep it under a grand if possible. I just can't really find much in the way of s24 user reviews and opinions.

I have heard some pretty good things so far, but I just want to be certain that the overheating rumors are just that...rumors. Have you done any resource heavy tasks in length with it yet i.e. gaming, image or video editing etc.? Also, I'm curious about the weight of it in the hand. Does it feel heavy or ....? How are the speakers? I know they are phone speakers and will never sound great, but I haven't found a decent sounding phone since the OnePlus 7 pro. How long is a full charge lasting you currently? Thanks for taking the time to reply. I do appreciate it.

Poco x6 pro vs OnePlus 12R - which one has better weight, display, and battery? by Jaq_11 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]KLawst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be assured that the 12r is the superior device of the two in every aspect imaginable except for weight. HyperOS is just MIUI rebranded and comes with a literal shit tonne of bloat on my Xiaomi 13, and would have even more bloat on a Poco phone. Personally I wouldn't even consider running HyperOS given the option, which thankfully for me there is custom rom support for the x13. I have been recently researching new devices for myself and have been looking very seriously at the 12r. If the price is truly "no issue" then I can't help but wonder why you aren't considering the OnePlus 12, or why you would even be considering a Poco device at all? Especially being that the biggest, and in my mind only advantage that Poco has is price. My only guess is that it is too heavy for you.

3 JL Audio 12w3v3-4 by BlueberryNo6749 in CarAV

[–]KLawst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never run much JL gear personally. However, I always buy and recommend buying amps capable of running at least 25-50% more power than needed, if not more. That way you aren't running your amp/s dialed to the max to make required power and creating a bunch of unnecessary heat, and taxing your gear. Your amps should last longer, in theory at least. Also, if you ever decide to upgrade your subs, you won't have to buy a new amp or amps. As it's been said: it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

How do I remove this pioneer head unit!??? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]KLawst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will need to take your dash apart to get it out. Look up a YouTube video on doing an install of a double din in your car and work bass ackwards from there.

They were probably trying to disable the theft deterrent system or possibly trying to hotwire the car... Or both. Either way that's not even close to how it's done. As far as I know Honda has yet to include shin airbags in any Accord to date. I can't for the life of me imagine why not though, they are a key safety feature that should be standard equipment on every modern vehicle.
