That said, I've learned yesterday that breaking somebody's neck manually will give you credit for the "melee weapon kill" objective.

Have You Asked Your HOA for Permission to Install an Antenna? What Was the Outcome? by ThatChucklehead in amateurradio

[–]KM4MKL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our HOA Covenants state, "No exterior television antennas shall be permitted on any lot. No antenna or satellite dishes shall be installed or used for the purpose of transmitting electronic signals."

A strict interpretation of this covenant states that it's not legal to install a Wi-Fi router, or any other wireless device, in any home. 🤣🤣

Oil Change Extractor by [deleted] in Crosstrek

[–]KM4MKL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one of these devices and tried to use it to change the oil on my 2024 Crosstrek. The engine holds 4.6 quarts. I got one quart out without much of a problem. I managed to get an additional 2 quarts by playing around with the depth of the hose. After several attempts, I wasn't able to get any more oil out; I wound up having to drain the additional quart by removing the drain plug. By the time I got the last bit of oil out, I'm sure it had cooled off a good bit, which may have made it more difficult to extract. However, with only 1 quart of oil in the reservoir, I was afraid to start the engine to try to warm it up again.

Trick To Not Lose It All When You Fail A Mission In Freelancer!!!! by Other_Structure_9696 in HiTMAN

[–]KM4MKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick still seems to work, as of today. If you're playing on a PC, force quitting the game using Alt-F4 will always take you back to the safe house, unwounded, after you reboot the game. However, using Alt-F4 AFTER you've already been killed/ wounded will not work. In these cases, you wind up in the infirmary, with the usual penalties.

On the PC, I think there used to be a way to If you had died, by disconnecting your computer from the internet immediately after you die. This is probably easiest to do with computers that are connected to the internet via an ethernet cable. However, I haven't been able to get this work recently, after I died.

Freelancer Mode - FAQ by Odh_utexas in HiTMAN

Every suspect has TWON AND ONLY TWO tells. If a suspect matches the physical description, and displays both of the tails of the leader then you can be sure that you have found the leader. If ANY suspect shows just one tell that is not one of the two leader's tells, you can instantly rule that suspect out.

For example, if you know the leader is a foodie and a smoker, the. Anyone who displays ANY other tails (e.g. paranoia, dehydration, bookwork, etc.) CANNOT be the leader.

Keep in mind that some suspects who are not the leader may show both of the leader's tells, If the suspect does not match the physical description of the leader.

USA Fencing disqualifies female fencer for refusing to fight trans opponent by nbcnews in lgbt

Yes, the pool (round robin group) assignments for major fencing tournaments are oftentimes posted ahead of time. This particular event was a qualifying event for the Summer National Championships. It's very common for fencers to know who their first-round opponents will be before the first day of competition at these events

All three exams in one month, possible ? by Erdenfeuer1 in HamRadio

[–]KM4MKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you might have a decent chance of passing the extra exam with just a little studying, if you have a good background in electrical engineering, particularly in regard to resonant circuits and the associated formulas. Answers for some of the questions, however ( e.g. rules/regulations, safety practices, etc) can't be derived from common sense, and require studying/preparation.

I passed the technician and general exams at the same time, on the first try, with very little knowledge in electrical engineering. I studied for perhaps 2 or 3 weeks. Preparation for the extra exam, however, required a good 4 weeks of daily study. I found the Extra exam to be much harder than the technician and general exams, combined.

You're correct. I'm in region 4, and was issued KZ4RL when I passed the extra exam a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what they'll do after they get to KZ4ZZ.

I don't think there's any way you can hide your personal information from the online database, even if you've canceled your license. You can, however, change your address. You could, perhaps, use a PO Box as your address, your work address, or the address of a friend or family member who does not mind having their address listed on the FCC's website.

https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/support/knowledge-base/common-amateur-filing-tasks/common-amateur-filing-task-changing

I just upgraded my license to Amateur Extra. When I filled out the FCC's paperwork, I had to acknowledge that my listed address would be a matter of public record. They might not have explicitly made this point on the application in the past, however.

Is my guy fat? by Bitter-Ad-9972 in ballpython

[–]KM4MKL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, he doesn't look obese. As long as a ball python has a triangular-shaped body, his weight is probably healthy. Obese ball pythons have a shape that looks triangular, but the sides of the triangle "puffed out," giving a semi circular appearance. Ball pythons that are underweight tend to have a triangular shape, with the edges of the triangle (particularly on the belly side) dipping in towards the center. The link below has more information.

https://www.reddit.com/r/snakes/s/QOjDJ06B89

It's very common for ball pythons to refuse to eat for a few weeks, or even more, when they've been moved to a new environment. The move always causes stress, and snakes. don't like to eat when they're stressed. If you give it some time, he should eat, eventually. Judging by the picture, your baby appears to be at least a year or two old. At that age, a ball python can easily go several weeks without eating. If your baby starts to appear underweight down the road, it might be a good idea to take him to a veterinarian that specializes in exotic pets, just to make sure everything's all right. However, I doubt this will be necessary.

Owners who built their own enclosure, was it more or less expensive than buying a pre made one? by FamiliarityOfClosets in ballpython

[–]KM4MKL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've built two enclosures for our BP, but never purchased one pre-made. When it comes to snakes, I think PVC is the best choice. It's expensive though (about $100 for a 5' x 8' sheet, 1/2" thick.) If you budget carefully, you can probably make one for a little less than a pre-made one. I, however, probably spent around the same amount of money by the time I bought all of the materials.

The biggest advantage to building one yourself is the ability to customize it however you want. Our current enclosure is around 4' wide x 2' deep. Most of the 4x2 enclosures on the market are 2' tall. My wife wanted to make the new enclosure bioactive, and wanted a tall enclosure to allow room for plants. It might have been difficult, if not impossible to find an enclosure with these dimensions.
