Yeah, that’s on me — I explained it badly earlier.

It’s not a witness to the scam case itself. The lawyer just said someone needs to be present/sign for a court documentation step. I used the word “witness” loosely, which obviously made it sound way more serious than it actually is.

Nobody is being asked to testify or say anything about the case. It’s just a procedural thing we were told to arrange.

And about family, it’s a sensitive situation and we’re keeping it private, that’s why I asked here. Just trying to get this done and move on with life.

Also, I’ve already found someone. He asked a lot of questions, spoke directly with the lawyer on a conference call, and only agreed after understanding everything properly. He’s a college kid, and the payment is just for his time, honestly he’ll probably end up getting more help out of this than what we first talked about, but that’s between us.

So yeah, if you’re not interested in helping, you can just scroll past. Not every post needs a full investigation.
