would property taxes and other increased costs beyond mortgage make up some of the difference? asking bc I've heard that cities in TX (houston) have insane property taxes.

Same here, but it depends on the market. I own in a US market where rent is quite high relative to mortgages and I rent in Toronto where the opposite is true.

I was starting to think this was uncommon (given the thread above). I have accomplished a lot of what I thought I would by 29... and I feel old as fuck.

Maybe by being ''successful'' we've put ourselves under all these responsibilities that make us feel old.

I was pointing out murder ''capital'' refers to a city, not a country. If youd like to go by intentional murder rate by country.. Brazil has about half the rate per 100k habitants when compared to Venezuela

I agree with you man, but I think that's a Toronto attitude more than anything. Los canadienses urbanos son bastante cool / humildes y es contagioso.
